And Robby Kreiger owned Mick Taylor ;)

TS, theres quite a price difference between those guitars, the Epi LP is a good deal more than the other two, and the MIM is more than the Epi SG.

Personally I'd go for the strat. I'm fond of the MIMs. Never tried an epiphone LP but I do own a G400. They're quite nice but have a few minor flaws, namely that they're neck heavy and have muddy stock pickups.

So really its all down to preference. I'd say tho, if you're going to be playing slide go for an epiphone. The G400 has a 12" board radius and lends itself nicely to slide.

I agree with all of the responses here, but personally being a total SHREDDER I prefer the strat because of it's feel, balance, and playability. Like Highbinder conveyed...it's really a matter of personal preference. Go for the Strat, go for the Strat! :D

Well i agree with whoever said strat. Seriously for any tone. Just get the MIM and change the pickups to your preference. Now i'm just an amatuer so i have two questions. Is there anything other than pickups that make an electric sound different from another. And what are pups and pots?

I just traded my Epi 62' RI SG for a HSS Strat. I couldn't get use to the neck & I liked my Ibanez better.

My Ibanez was a 1 year run maple body & hot rodded for a steal IMO & I like it alot. I had a 96' Squier standard Strat and felt better with that than the Epi so my new MIM Strat will be here Thursday

I like the Strat, too -- and NOT because I am a die-hard Strat guy (I am a Gibson guy who is actually fairly new to playing Strats). I am not a big fan of the Epi guitars that I have played. The Epi's are nowhere near their Gibson counterparts. And -- personally -- I am not that crazy about the new Gibson SG's either (I have a '76 SG Standard that absolutely embarasses all the new SG's I have played). By comparison for Fender, I think the MIM Strats hold their ground well against their MIA counterparts. Further, I think some of the MIM guitars are actually even a bit better.

Just my $0.02...

Yeah my only complaint is that on a strat. the volume knob is right next to the bridge making you play over the volume knob which can be uncomfortable. With the sg i think the only reason i like it is because of the guitar player from ac/dc. Even the gibsons have lost there touch like eibach said.
