Great response! Guitars are temperamental creatures!

I'm very interested in what you say about 4 screw vs 2 post, I wouldn't want to order the wrong one.

I recall reading Peter S used the SuperVee four screw method on a two-post trem, plugging the two original holes and redrilling four new. Some refin probably needed (?).

Yes, that's right, but the trem covers the dowels I glued into the 2 original stud holes, so I got away without any touching up. The guitar's been refinished in sonic blue nitro (which is looking a bit worn now), so as a Strat Plus it's pretty much valueless anyway, so drilling the 4 holes to mount the Bladerunner didn't bother me. This is a guitar to play, not to sell...!

Glad you've sorted it, though, thechas7. Although as you suggest, something a little more permanent is probably going to be needed in the future!

Cheers - Peter.

You mean the one you have is valueless due to it being refinished and a bit beat? Just was wondering if this is a broader statement? Market value on older Strat Plus and Ultra guitars have significantly gone up in value the last 4-5 years. I just sold a nice 1987 for $2500! :D Hardly valueless!

Well yes, obviously it's not literally valueless! But with the refinish (although I love it in worn sonic blue nitro), fitted Bladerunner, junked Tremsetter (many years ago), replacement 5-way and TBX, needing a refret fairly soon, it's hardly 'nice' as yours presumably was! Otherwise it's standard and it plays very well, but as for selling it - people want originality, don't they? Fortunately, I'm not bothered what anyone else thinks of it!

Coming back to the top/bottom of the tree making a difference to the density of the wood - yes, I read that in a magazine sometime. You'd hope it wouldn't make that much difference, wouldn't you? And it's odd that I've only had the problem on 90's Strats (2 out of 3 owned), unless it's pure coincidence.

Cheers - Peter.
