Actually, the HWY1's are made at the Corona plant in the US....

These are uninqe only to the American Standard not availiable on the HWY. One's
New Bent Steel Saddles with Elongated String Slots,
Copper Infused High Mass 100% Metal Bridge Block,
Thinner Undercoat Finish for Improved Body Resonance,
Tinted Neck,
Maple Fingerboard Neck: Satin Finish on Back, Gloss Finish on Front;
Rosewood Fingerboard Neck: Satin Finish on Back, Gloss Finish on Headstock Front with Buffed Fingerboard,
4-Bolt Neck Attachment with Micro-Tilt™ Adjustment,
Bi-Flex Truss Rod System,
Parchment Knobs and Pickup Covers,
Rolled Fretboard Edges,
Staggered Tuning Keys,
H/S/H Pickup Routing,
New Molded Fender/SKB Case with TSA Locks, Glass Reinforced Nylon Trigger Latches, and Form Fitted Plush Interior

Me its American Stardard they are not made from the same stuff no matter what someones music teacher said, even though he said he USED TO WORK THERE!

I'm a new guitar player, and I don't quite get the previous post - what do the features matters on an American Standard if one doesn't like the way it sounds? Or was that even the point the poster was trying to make?

I tried the Am. Standard, Am. Deluxe, and the Highway 1, thinking I'd prefer the Deluxe, but I ended up liking the Highway 1 best. Not that I'm rushing out to buy it, as I've only been playing 6 months, but it was interesting to find that out.

Your right it is about sound. The bi fleX neck on the American Standard is so easy to adjust both over and under to make the neck dead on for playabilty. Set ups are a brezze.

Exactly. There was a poster here who went on and on about how the Highway One pickups were "made in the custom shop."

I didn't care that they were made in the Custom Shop, I still didn't like them. Other than the pickups, I did like the Highway One. I didn't like the idea of buying a guitar for $750 with pickups I didn't like, when I could buy a guitar that looked better, had better-sounding pickups, and was only $600.

Guys thanks a lot for all your opinions its been really helpfull i guess ill go to a store and try them both and the ill decide (i gues)

thanks again

and if it helps im looking for a strat to get kind of a john frusciante tone, and i know he uses all vintage strats like 62 and 65 and a 57 i think.

I can recommend the Classic Player 60s strat which has Custom '69 pickups. Low output and lovely sounding. I actually AB'd this guitar with a HWY1 and although i loved the jumbo frets of the HWY1, the tone from the 69s was amazing. You will be able to nail Hendrix and Frusciante with ease. In the neck pickup position, you truely feel like 'kissing the sky' :)
