Hi -
Long time player here.
About 4 years ago i made big change from EB's super sports to a fender FSR mex black paisley tele,
It felt like home for my hands - I upgraded guts and absolutely love it. It is my only guitar here.
I would love to find a strat too with SAME neck.
But can not find one with maple board-modern C - 9.5 radius- medium jumbo frets-gloss on BACK of neck - 2 point trem -22 frets would be ok..
Does/did such a beast exist?
I have tried standards, but the satin back neck just doesn't feel right. and the 60's player had C neck with 12 radius.
I have looked up and down and am wondering if a custom order - or buying neck ( crazy money) is only option?
Was there a specific year where mex or american strats came with these necks ?
I am in England which makes the situation more dire when looking ..
Thanks for any tips!

How hard have you looked?

Modern C 9.5" is pretty much the default for modern Strats.

You might struggle a little for the gloss back neck (because gloss back is prone to get sticky when you sweat on it) as most are the much nicer satin now. However, satin is a bit of grey area and isn't anything like as satin as you might imagine. I'd try it as there isn't much not to like about satin over gloss once you play it for a bit. I agree that the initial "pick up and play" feel is quite different but that feel disappears quite quickly.

If you still don't like the satin rub it with T Cut until you get the level of gloss you like. The satin reduces with use/ware any way but still doesn't seem to get the sweaty stickiness that you get with the full on gloss.

Many necks have 9.5 to 14 radius and no gloss at the back.

It would take time to search if Fender made the neck he look for.

If by many you mean the Elite range  - Didn't recent iterations of the discontinued MiA Deluxe/Deluxe Plus also have a compound neck?

Both American Standard and Special are 9.5 Modern C but are satin(ish) on the back.

MiM Standard is 9.5 Modern C but satin(ish) on the back

"Edge" Ditto

The frets can always be changed but it looks like pretty much all current "new" Strats are satin backed necks.

I can't find a reference to when they changed from gloss but I'm inclined to think it was only fairly recently as I remember much score being put on how much better the satin backed necks were (which they are ;-) )

As a thought, you can get to Fenders back catalogues in the "Support" links below. Going back a few years would establish when satin became the standard finish.

Moozoo72, I'm sure you can get what you want on some Custom Shop models, easily available in or within 50 miles of London.

My 2012 'Custom Deluxe' Strat is to your specs but has a chunkier neck than you want. But it does have a gloss back to the neck. Or rather it DID have until I took advice from this forum to smooth it off! When I was buying it (in Guitar Village) there were others with modern-shape gloss necks - I just fancied something with a bit more meat.

Buying a new neck to your specs would be a lot cheaper, though!

Cheers - Peter.

+1 More easy to smooth it than buy a new one.

Wow - thanks to all for so much advice! Great forum.
I had never heard of putting T cut on neck-
The 2012 FSR mex tele neck i have says "Urethane" as finish. is not like the heavy thick gloss that i have seen on older strats that is sticky and i wasn't a fan of.. I have just grown fond of this particular finish.
All the other specs i can find - its just the back of neck that it looks like ill have to compromise with.
thanks again!

All Fender neck are so easy to play with, you are better to test them than just read specs.

I have played at least 20 different strats in past week. The type of neck finish spec is important because that is the what i am trying to replicate. The one that came closest had a "soft V neck" and to me that just didn't feel right or easy to play- thanks

You may be able to find something close enough and have a local luthier clear coat it, might be a cheap option alternative to other methods mentioned here. Maybe eBay or Stratosphere etc. may have it.
I've been looking for a certain Fender neck but I am convinced Fender does not make it. My case has to do with fret size though.

Frets are consumables and can be replaced by any luthier worth his sort.
