I can pop in the trem bar on my elite but it takes quite a bit of force. Once in the tension is good and stable until I move it out of the way pointing to the back strap pin and it pops out and then becomes a free swinging trem bar. I have adjusted the set screw to different tensions and it pops out even sooner. Any thoughts.

There is two screws on the trem. block....The top one (closest to the bridge, and the one you can get to without removing the block) adjusts the swing tension, and the bottom one adjusts the amount of force necessary to insert and remove the trem. bar.
The bottom screw presses against a small spring to achieve that adjustment, and it is possible that the spring has been bent, allowing the trem bar to pop loose. It's also possible that the screw just needs adjusting. The only way to check that is by removing the trem block. Once you have the block removed you should be able to see exactly what is causing the problem.

Well I thought you were talking about the old eighties elite but now I have seen the video...
Indeed there are two allen screws in the back of the bridge. Both tighten around a plastic collar and they may well be loose.
I am not sure what James is talking about with regards to a spring so maybe he can elaborate...
When you look at the trem bar itself just above the dimple there is a groove.
When the bar drives home and you hear the click it means the groove is home in a spring clip which resides in a slot about three quarters of the way down the bridge block. There could also be an issue with this e.g. bent. They can break as well but unlikely in your case. You will find it will loosen a bit over time and not be so hard to pull.
As suggested the easiest method is to remove the bridge and adjust but I have seen some use an allen key with the end cut really short and slipped in from the back. :D
