Good afternoon everyone.
I recently bought a Fender Standard 1996; everything seems normal on a guitar at the time, but unmount, no date or neck or body, there is only one behind the pickguard date April 18, 1996.
Has anyone seen something like this?
The person seemed very legit but you never know.
And the price ........ amazing.
Thanks in advance ........... any help would be appreciated.

Perhaps in the photo I uploaded the body, looks like a drilled hole, but it was just dirt, I upload another photo

After many hours of searching online, I just found something in this topic,

viewtopic.php?t=38853

and I also wonder why so many holes in the pocket, and the mystery of dates ........ that was very comum in old fender, but I have several fender and all come with dates ........

I do not know the reason that guitar have not dates or neck or body, even the sticker with the numbers in pocket is a mystery.
It is a question that can only know some expert or someone who has worked in Fender.

Wait for more answer from expert on forum.

Is it a standard color for 1996 ?

Everything I see on this guitar looks as it should. The lack of stamps in the neck pocket is odd, but not unprecedented. Put it together and play it like you stole it.

I am always a little amazed when someone gets a new Fender guitar that they pull it all apart and try to date each piece, not an affliction that Gibsonfiles seem to share!

And often ruin the set-up during the process.

IMHO: Looks legit, but the extra holes (and the paint edges) in the neck pocket indicate a refinish.

To be sure, email Fender consumerrelations@fender.com with the serial number - for a 1996 guitar they should be able to provide info on what the specs were when it left the factory.

Indeed so. If you like the guitar and it plays the way you like it why would you pull it to pieces to search for date stamps? It isn't going to make the guitar play any better and could make it worse.

Wood screws work best when screwed in and left alone. Every subsequent removal reduces their effectiveness. Keep doing it and they become next to useless in the original holes.

I'd agree, John, but perhaps he's concerned he's been conned? IE: Someone's raised a doubt about its authenticity and he's trying to check?

The serial number / specs seem to check out, though, even though I agree with JM that it looks a bit like a refinish. Alternatively, the body might be a ringer, which might or might not be a cause for concern, but certainly might have a bearing on the price OP paid.

Personally, I think the answer lies in that sticker in the neck pocket. I've had three 90's Strats (and still have one which was refinished long ago) but I don't recall a handwritten label in any...? My memory could be at fault, of course - thank heavens for forums!

Cheers - Peter.

Good afternoon again.
Perhaps you are right not to dismantle the guitars, but in many cases the guitars that I bought were not very well maintained and I had to make an adjustment and cleaning.
I understand a little Fender guitars but I wanted to hear someone expert, or at least, someone which had seen something similar.

Also say that all the guitars you see in the picture have been adjust and cleaning for me, I like to adjust on my way, although experts say a luthier adjusts the guitars better that if you do self.
Specifically, this Fender Standard Vintage White had a lot of cleaning, and some other adjustment.
The sticker with number, which is the same that serial number of the neck, is a curious thing ...........

In short, this is pure GAS ....... and pure love for the guitar ......

Sorry for my english, and thanks everyone for your answers.

I'd be interested in knowing more about the green Tele and the purple Strat.

Nice collection.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Both guitars are Fenix, made by the manufacturer of pianos, Young Chang, who was commissioned to build the Squier of 80/90's.

Reviewing the guitar again today, I have noticed that there is an extra hole in the part of the springs-claw, maybe this hole was intended for the hipshot tremsetter and this was a body of a Fender Plus?
who knows
