I ordered the neck plate from MOJOTONE...Vintage Original Fender Part. Screws included. Fender part 099-1447-100. It is Chrome plated Steel, I called to order it and talked with them to make sure.

Beautiful collection of SSSs.

(I've had to hang my guitars a bit lower now, due to gravity increasing over the years.)

After working up my Seafoam Green Strat with a nice white pick guard, covers, and knobs, etc., I decided to do the same to my 50th Anniversary Gold Strat. I was never in love with anodized aluminum pick guard, I liked the color but not the aluminum.

I like it but wonder what everyone else thinks.

+1

The white looks more dramatic and attractive.

Thanks guys. I do like the contrast much better after a couple days. It now has a nice classic look to it and the plastic will hold up much better than the aluminum would have!

Indeed it will. But it takes years of play with sweaty, grungy hands before the gold anodized finish really begins to wear to the point that it becomes unsightly. I'm not a big fan of gold pickguards but it does favor certain finishes such as 2TSB, Fiesta Red, Oly White, Desert Sand, and black. However I would never install one in conjunction with gold hardware.

The one I removed was already showing some light wear though hard to see in the photo. My guess (since this guitar has seen only band practice time) that the anodizing process like many things Fender isn't up to previous standards! ...and I haven't become the grubby unlcean player, at least not yet.

In any case, hang onto that gold pickguard. You might want to build a relic someday and you've already got a headstart on the aging process. Should you decide to pursue such a project I'll give you details about how to relic the plastic parts using poker chips, a nylon mesh bag, and your wife's clothes dryer.
