Hey I was wondering if anyone has tried out or owns either one of the Boss Fender Legendary pedals ( FDR & FBM) because I have a crappy amp and I want it to sond better.

I'm wondering whether to just get a new amp or get one or both of these...any suggestions?

the best trick i ever found for rubbish amps is to bypass the pre-amp. If your amp has a effects loop plug your guitar into the input of your pedal and the output of your pedal into the effects return. This is also the best way i've found of using good amps. Ive a marshall jcm that i plug in a digitech bad monkey in this way. It works exceptionaly well for multi fx Pod,boss etc. Im betting if fender have put their name on another manufacturers product its got to be good.

I had the FDR-1 pedal. It was good for adding for adding some reverb on a cheap amp, but the more reverb you added, the faker it sounded. It also has vibrato (which I never use) Not worth the money IMO. It certainly does not replace a good tube amp. I sold it after a couple of months and bought a nice amp (Blues Deluxe). BD and tube screamer are pretty much all I need.

The pedals are kind of pricey and for a little more cabbage, you can get a Fender SCXD Amp which might be a better value since you claim to have a "crappy amp." These are good sounding amps with digital effects.

The link you have, has sound files that you can listen to the sounds of the pedals. Did you listen to those?

Boss pedals are normally very good. Built rugged too. I have about five of them. Not the ones you're looking at, though. I was once thinking of checking out the pedals that you're interested in, then I bought a tube amp, and thought it didn't make sense to buy a pedal that duplicated a tube sound.

I owned the Deluxe Reverb pedal for a day and returned it. I ended up purchasing a TubeScreamer 808 and a EH Holy Grail reverb pedal and have been happy with my sound since.
