Hey folks! Please help me choose my next Fender Stratocaster purchase! I don't have much cash so just trying to get less than $1K So far my only options are some nice Mexican made in the store ... can't get a 2nd hand right now so.. :)

Just looking for some nice 2nd/ 4th position cleans and can get an overdriven rock sound... I'm kinda leaning towards the Classic 50s since I like the Sonic blue color but 7.25 radius is a bit new to my hands... a bit small and the V shape feels weird and this is the most expensive of the 3... I'm used to a regular C shaped.

All are fine guitars, but between these three, the "Classic Series 50s" would be my choice. I have one in CAR, an excellent guitar. 8)

Of course, the CAR is lacquer, whereas the others are poly.

Yummy guitar! :)

Your guitar avatar also looks awesome... always wanted a more prounced BLUE color. My Blacktop is toooo pale in photos...

Any Pros/ Cons with 7.25 radius? I assume I cannot get low action without fretting out when I do bends in upper frets?

If the frets are properly leveled and crowned, there's no reason that a correctly set-up Strat with a 7.25" radius would choke out when bending notes above the 12th fret. Any skilled luthier can make these guitars play right.

7.25 radius are not easy to bend, choose 9.25

For $1K, you may have a better guitar in second hand market.

Horseshit!

Jimi Hendrix didn't have any problems and all of his Strats featured a 7.25" radius.

We are not Jimmy Hendrix.
Jimmy may be better with 9.5 radius

I see that myself and I'm not only the one to say that.
I never read that about 9.5 radius or 12 inches radius.Only on 7,25
Why modern guitars ( any brand ) don't use 7.25 ?

I've never felt a difference between 7.25 and 9.5 radius's.
I've never struggled to bend a note on anything aside from my Explorer, which is a 12" radius.

Radius plays so little a part in string bending, it's unreal. I dunno where this talk comes from.
Please draw 2 circles. One with a 14.5" diameter and one with a 19" diameter. Then chop a 2" line from each.
Remarkably similar.

String height has more to do with stings choking. Regardless of fret level and radius. I've a 72 LP Custom sat next to me that had next to no fret height when I got it. Those guitars were called fretless wonders. Couldn't bend a note at all on it, because the strings were so low down.
I see it all the time. People that play with too much gain and string height too low. Set their amp up properly for them, so you can actually hear the guitar. And they go to pieces because their strings are rattling off the fret tops and when they bend without a load of gain to mask the sound. It all becomes too apparent what the problem is with their 97 fret pointy wonder that was precision made by gods own guitar tech on a mountain in Antarctica.

Set up is everything. Don't sweat things like radius. Fender wouldn't even tell you the radius unless it was a selling point.

Well I play many styles on many different guitars. I don't know if that means I'm a good player. I think I'm messy.

Trust me, you know nothing about difficult fretting and bending until you've played a Mosrite ( 14" Radius). There was a reason those guitars didn't sell and 7" radius Strats and Tele's did. Far outselling their 12" Gibson counterparts too, btw

In fact, I think I'll be taking a photo of them soon.

Take a look at the Classic Player '50s Strat. It also has the soft V but has a 9.5" radius as opposed to the 7.25". You might find it more comfortable.

+1!

I rest my case.

I love Odee, my fake '62 MiM, with a passion, and will play it in preference to any of the others. However the neck can seem a little cramped and can produce finger pains which don't manifest themselves on my modern radius Strats. Perhaps something to consider, perhaps not.

After that, if the choice is between an MiA and a MiM I'd go with the MiA. MiM's are great guitars, well made, nicely finished, sound great and excellent value for money. Indeed, for the same money a MiM is probably the better finished guitar. However, bizarrely, bits are different between MiA's and MiM's. My latest finding is MiA vintage style saddles are nicer than MiM vintage saddles - ridiculous but true. This is just one of many tiny examples that just confirm my suspicion/feelings/experience that (if you can make such a statement) ultimately MiA's are the better guitar.
