Hey all,

I noticed something cool and interesting on the the new Fender Deluxe Strat just released. The locking tuners have the vintage top peg on them instead of the standard more square style that normally comes on locking fender tuners. Fits really well with the 70's head stock. Does anyone know if the peg alone are available for replacement? I currently have the locking turners on my American Special Strat and would love the classic more round tuning peg.
These new Deluxe guitar really are a great value. Wow.

Take care,
Matthew

You're talking about the knobs on the end of the tuners, right? I haven't seen these available from Fender yet; I did take a quick look and the tuners on the American Elites and The Edge Signature USA models have the larger knobs even though they also have the "short post" locking tuners.

I don't know if these new ones are just for the MIM Deluxe series, or if Fender is making a change to this style knob on all their locking tuners. I'm not even sure that the "all short post" set is available yet as an accessory - if you buy a set you might still get the 3 tall/3 short set they have had for years.

...and are made in Taiwan. Makes you wonder why many criticise the Ping trems, even the ones with the steel block (as per AmSpec). Sorry - one of my pet gripes again - buy an expensive US Strat and get Far Eastern bits!

Cheers - Peter.

Yep - and before these Fender used to use Schallers (made in West Germany/Germany) but switched to the Pings on the USA models around 2006-2007. Even the tuners on AVs are made in Japan by Gotoh as Kluson is long gone - the name has been revived by new owners but they are made somewhere in Asia as well. I think the only USA made tuners are Sperzels.
