Will a Squier tremolo fit onto a Strat (assuming the screw spacing is the same)?

Surely, you mean the other way?
The Squier hardware is most definitely inferior.

Why the why?
Are you questioning me or the OP?

If it's me then it's an easy answer - materials and execution.
The US models will always be made with better materials, and the manufacturing is executed to a higher standard.

Jeff Healey didn't do a bad job with it! Yes, Jeff's was a Japanese Squier, but OP's might be as well. Presumably he has his reasons for asking the question - sorry I can't answer it!

Cheers - Peter.

Trying to give a serious answer here...

Usually Squier parts and Fender parts are not straight away interchangeable - screws, saddles, trem blocks etc. are often different.
Very seldom (like, on a MIJ Squier and a Fender of about the same era, and the same possibly applies to some MIM Squier/Fenders) the factory/factories used same parts - or same dimensions.
And, on the other hand, I'd say one should expect at least some fitting issues with every tremolo replacement.

BTW, you haven't given the sufficient info to give a specific answer. Which of the myriad of Squiers do you mean, and which of the countless "Strats"..?

I don't for one second think that everything is about me.
And no, I'm not paranoid - and it doesn't mean the bastards aren't trying to get me.
If you'd quoted the post you were questioning I wouldn't have felt the need to make comment or question your question. :D
