Hello!

A few weeks ago I changed the Humbucker for my Strat. I did this only to have different look, I replaced my Atomic Humbucker Black for the same but in Aged White color. (Same replacement part). However, I didn't want to replace all the wires of the humbucker inside, so I made a "CUT" in the middle of the cables (leaving all connected inside, the potentiometer, etc...) and solder all the wires together with the new humbucker. Later I added electrical tape.

I don't know if somebody has done this in the way I did it, I was searching on google and everyone replaces all the wiring with the new one that comes with the new humbucker, but I found this too complicated for me. I must add that after this change the sound is exactly the same.

Any thoughts?

Regards,

Well it may work but it wont help you sell/re-use the old pickups!! Makes it "you're way or harder way" in order to re-use the old pickup. The better fix for the old pickup, is to replace the wire at the pickup end soldier joint to its original length(de-soldier the leftover short piece of wire and re-soldier a new proper length).
It also adds a potentially weak point in the circuit by adding a "soldiered splice join". Also electrical tape is ok, shrink tubing is better. Think about decay and sticky adhesives, it should be fine though for many years.

Ditto above.

Also, you have added an unnecessary joint in the wire which is best avoided when possible. The electrical current within a guitar is so small and delicate it is best to avoid putting added hurdles in its path.

"I did it right?" Well it was a better job than twisting the wires together but it wouldn't do for me.
