I finally got to get my hands on one of these, I'm thoroughly impressed with it, probably the best production strat I've ever heard/played short of an original vintage... a truly amazing guitar, I'm glad I stumbled upon it...

but the more I'm playin it the more I'm noticing things about it (not sound/tone related)... for instance, the p'ups seem to be MUCH higher on the high E side vs. the low E, I haven't taken any measurements but if someone could post up proper specs I'd love to experiment with 'em to get the best sound i can.... the way they are set at the moment is nothing like any factory setup i've ever seen

any suggestions??

This is what the limited edition 50th strats look like.

all other 2004 strats unfortunately also had a 50th neck plate and added confusion and a sales tool for the e-bay hustlers.

Mine is my #1 for sure !!!!

and yes my high E side of the pups is closer to the strings, thats what the specs call for.

pups = pickups

pots = potentiometers (volume/tone knobs)

WHAT! I thought pups were, you know, small dogs. Damn, no wonder my upgrade hasn't been working well for me... Still, it explains the squealing noise. :D

Here is a Black and white of Yours truely and my 50th.

I dont have a measuring device accurate enough to give you specs on mine, however I am possitive that it is the same specs as an American series which you can find right here on Fenders site.

if its really out of whack then follow the AMSE Specs and you will be Right at home.

I know when I did a set up on mine I used the AMSE specs and it sounds perfect !!!

They are very vintage so if anything you might have to bump them up just a little.

sweetest sounding Strat I have ever owned or played.

hope you have a nice tube amp to hear what it can do!!!!!

I'm playing on a SuperChamp XD right now... and it sounds friggin phenomenal... like you said, best sounding production line strat ever... it is how a Strat is supposed to sound... down the road over winter maybe I'm gonna find a used Blues Jr and do a couple of the BillM mods

great sound !!!!

I play through an older 93 Blues Deville with the 4x10 set up and the route 66 compresor and overdrive pedal, I only use the comp side of the pedal 90% of the time.

sweetest strat tone ever.

however, sadly my Deville is sick right now and all I have is my Cyber Twin to jam through, The CT is no slouch for sure but the Deville just has a sweeter tone.

Definitely my #1 Strat as well! You might check out Dan Erlewine's book "Guitar Player Repair Guide." He gives some solid advice on adjusting the pick-ups as well as other set-up techniques. There's also an in depth look at the set-ups of Jeff Beck and SRV among other things. My pup's are set fairly level.
