Hey guys, first time posting, and I'm sure this is a silly thing to worry about, but I had trouble finding any specific wisdom on this subject. I currently own a 2013 USA STD Strat w/ staggered tuners, 2 tall 4 short. I purchased the fender chrome locking tuners as an upgrade and noticed they're 3 tall 3 short, same as on the previous deluxe models. However, the new fender elite strats come with all short posts with claims of improved break angle. Should I try to source 3 more short locking tuners? Or should I keep what I've got and use 3 and 3? Thanks for any info!

I don't know about tuner optimal post height.
To me is the same if you ask wich guitar is the (only ) best one ?

The best tone I heard is from a '60 area Strats from a collector and tuner post have same height so .....

I'll keep the original tuner or put the locking tuner you ordered.

I always have (or fit) 2 string trees on my Strats, so the question of break angle never arises. If you're worried about it, you could go the same way. Yes, I have lockers on all Strats, including the 'F' logo'd ones I think you're talking about.

I fit trees because it stops the odd tones from behind the nut I get on certain distortion settings, but most don't seem to have that problem and I doubt you will either. Anyway, they're very easy to swap, so give the lockers a try and see what you think. As Stratele52 says, what does it sound best with? That takes precedence over the undoubted convenience of locking tuners!

Cheers - Peter.

Given the standards of the way tuners were made in past years,,, and me having about 10 strats over the years I've been playing...... I don't think it matters much at all....
