That's a good idea, if the knobs that are on it fall apart, I will super glue them and save the new ones, as of now, as long as they hold together even with the cracks I will leave them be. As far as the price, I couldn't pass this up, it's really a buyers market. Down side is I thought about selling my 50th 54', but watched Ebay and they are even selling very low right now.

That is the sad state of affairs with respect to the guitar market. Millennials are just into other things. Video games are more their speed and if they're into music at all, they can hit a couple of buttons on the computer and "create" electronic dance music. Their peers dig it so why take the time and effort to learn the guitar? - it's only gonna play their parents music. The big guitar companies and Guitar Center are all experiencing major debt and beyond dismal credit ratings. The guitar scene needs a shot in the arm ala The Beatles or Elvis!

+1000, Just a few years ago these forums were busy, the guitar scene needs a shot in the arm for sure.I guess I will be the old hermit that instead of finding my body one day surrounded by cats, they will find me surrounded by strats and will roll their eyes and say look at all this old junk!

Indeed, but until then, we're gonna play our hearts out and have a lotta fun on these ol' gut-buckets! Actually, everything has to go through a period of uncoolness before it becomes cool again. I expect guitars will have their comeback.

Yes, I hope they do have their comeback. The strat needs someone to come along and do what SRV did for it in the 80's.

AV ‘59, not a “RI”.

Why do people feel the need to add “RI” where it doesn’t belong? :?

Sometimes what's wrong just seems right.

Misinformation, it's a waste of time, and appears as if those that do it are not knowledgeable about their gear.

Does it make the guitar seem better if you call it a RI? Do you feel more prestigious?

How would referring to a reissue guitar as a reissue make it seem better? Do you feel superior nitpicking someones NGD post? trying to belittle someone while knowing nothing about their knowledge of Fender guitars. Do us both a favor when you see a post from me, skip it, I don't want to waste your time , having to read those two extra letters "RI" ruined this forum, I officially apologize to all members here for having wasted your time!

As I said, it is NOT a "reissue", read the name as Fender wrote it. "American Vintage '59 Stratocaster". Hint: "reissue" is not in the name of the guitar.

Wrong or not AVRI seems more appropriate. Fender naming conventions are full of ambiguity and if someone says "I've got an American vintage '59 Strat" does that mean it is a vintage '59 Strat or a more recently manufactured '59 specification Strat?

For the sake of clarity I am sticking with my desire for an AVRI.

Nothing wrong about it John, bottom line is it is a reissue of a 59' strat. If he took a min. to read the entire post before rolling eyes and acting condescending he would have seen this post was started in 2016 and on page 2 Marty explained that he referred to the new series as AV. After page 2, I also referred to them only as AV. I came on here to post NGD pics, something I always enjoy seeing here and thought others did too, not for foolish arguments and to be talked down to.

I've always felt it was appropriate to call the pre-2012 Fender American Vintage series the AVRI's and the post 2012 simply AV. That's primarily because there is a significant difference in the two American Vintage series. The pre-2012 did not have nearly the attention to vintage details. The American Vintage Fenders post 2012 were made as if Fender never made any changes in the intervening years - they just continued making them as they had in the original years using the original tooling, clay markers on rosewood necks, paper and oil caps in the electronics, original fret specs, bone nuts, correct pickup winding's, the same neck thicknesses, nitro finishes, and original case candy. They weren't reissues so much as a continuation in the production as it was.
