Ive got no experience with this but from what i've read its difficult to remove and doing so usually strips the thread inside the trem hole if it isn't already stripped from trem use. From what ive read it seems to be a flaw in fender trems going back to te dawn of time thats never been sorted out. Callham say they've got a replacement that sorts it out, which i've installed on one of my guitars although it wasnt done because of a trem problem. its easy to fit and does improve your guitar, ive just ordered another for my new strat which has no problems at all i just want the tonal improvement. heres a link to it.

If it is a screw in type I wonder if they make a small enough tap and dye or extractor of some sort? try going to www,stewmac.com and researching this problem , if anyone can do it, it will be these people.

thx, il be sure to check it all out... ive also read something about using a i little drill, and drill into the little piece that is stuck, and the reverse drill, so that it comes out... but i think it sounds kinda risky?

Hello Minik,

Head over to you local
Hardware stores and get a
3/32 left hand drill bit,
running your hand drill in reverse,
it'll catch and screw itself out.

Any local machine shop will probably
do it for you for free.

Cheers.

Very much like an easy out.

You might try a 1'8" drill bit & an E-Z Out. You may also get a left hand thread drill bit. I'm a mechanic at a forklift shop & have owned my on tools for years. I would advice caution or get a qualified friend to do it cause it's TRICKY as heck & you could really screw the pooch if it goes wrong.

get a thread tap to, you know the threads are buggerd up, at least that would be my luck. I would take it off and stick it in a vise, cause if you slip with the drill, you just "reliced" your strat

Get an E-Z out. As small as you can find. A previous post sugested a 1/8". If you can find a smaller one it would be less dangerous to the surrounding threads. Drill the appropriate hole in the broken stud, insert the E-Z out and you should be able to back that baby right out. Hopefully there's no serious torque on the piece in question. But asside from that it should come right out.
