I did research but none of them talked about the spacing and doesn't specify if it fits the 2 point pivot. What spacing should I buy to replace my old rusty saddles with the present 2 point pivot?

If you are referring to the six-screw mounted bridge, you will be looking at a significant quantity of very tricky work to convert to a 2-point.
String spacing will be the least of your worries.

Try Callaham or Overdrive for saddle replacements.

i'm referring a 2point pivot, not the 6 screw. Is it 2 1/16″ Spaced or 2-3/16″ Spaced? I can't find any spaced related about the present American Standard's saddles, even on Fender site. I can't find the same saddle on any site that sells it, unlike vintage style saddles and block saddles that equipped in American Deluxe series.

You will want to be sure of what you have before spending any money on bridge parts. Not all two point trems are the same. I discovered this while building a Partsocaster and decided to compare two bridges from two guitars made in different countries. There are different string spacings as per your concern. There are also different anchor spacings (the two points) as well as different screw locations for the intonation screws..

If you look at some of the OverDrive saddle offerings you'll note some saddle have the screw down the centre and some are down the side. What is not shown on the link is the block saddle with the screw down the centre or the bent steel with the screw down the side. Both do exist. I've seen them. The bent steel side screw is more rare than the block saddle centre screw. Both are sometimes seen on non-MIA or MIM guitars. Squier guitars are also likley places to find such animals. My MIK Strat has the more common block-centre style. Parts for that bridge are problematic to source and you may have to buy some lower quality stuff to find it.

If you have a vise and an electric drill you can clean the rust off your existing saddles with a brass wire wheel, available at most hardware stores.

Used lightly, the brass wires will not lift the chrome finish from the saddles.

A little sewing machine oil (3-In-1) and a paper towel to sop up the excess will prevent rust from reforming for a spell.

The current 2-point trem on an american standard has a 2-1/16" string spacing.
afaik the 2-3/16" spacing is only found on 6 screw american vintage bridges.

Agreed - spacing will be 2-1/16". Psychedelic, how old is your AmStd? Are you trying to replace block saddles with bent-steel ones, or the other way around, or like-for-like?

Cheers - Peter.

Definitely 2-1/16. I accidentally ordered the 2-3/16" and put them on. They were grinning at me. I returned them to GC and got the right ones for my new American Standard Strat. I got the Graph Tech ones in chrome. They look more like the ones that come on the Elite. Bent steel is cheesy to me. I'm very pleased with them now. I put Fender locking tuners on it too. It's the honey burst ash with fat 50's and Shawbucker. The Shawbucker kicks butt.

Anyone know if these saddles are the same as those used on the Special? The new Special trem unit (part no 0072290000) I bought seems to have identical saddles...?

Cheers - Peter.

The American Special bridge is made by Ping in Taiwan and the American Standard is US made by Fender. Height adjustment screw threads are different.

Thanks mate. Yes, I knew the 'Made in Taiwan' thing, as I have the packaging. But the 'F' logo'd locking tuners fitted to various US Strats are also Taiwanese, when I'd assumed they were US-made! Which is why I wondered.

But are you sure about the threads? Having swapped them around, I can definitely say that the Ping height screws/threads are the same as those in the block saddles on pre-'08 US Strats, and I thought all saddle screws were the same (other than lengths). Have you actually tried Ping screws in US bent-steel saddles, or vice-versa?

Whatever, will the US saddles directly replace the Ping ones, do you know? The baseplate looks identical other than 6- or 2-point...?

Thanks again - Peter.

I'll just chip in to this; the old expect the unexpected principle with Fender applies.
There are (at least?) two imperial thread sizes in use for Strat/Tele saddles, 4-40 and 4-48.
On metric, I haven't (yet...) seen anything else than M3.
