I have been seriously looking at this guitar as well as the American Deluxe and I'm not sure which to choose.
I have played an American Deluxe and I love it but I was wondering what you guys thought of the Hot Rod 57? No stores in my area carry that particular guitar so I haven't had the chance to play it yet.
I read on reviews that it goes out of tune quite easily if using the whammy. Is that true? Overall what are your thoughts on the Hot Rod 57?

Thanks

I have not played a 57 either but I own a 07 deluxe and I have not been able to get it out of tune. They are remarkable guitars.

got my hotrod last monday cant recommend em enough. truly superb a real pleasure to play. the noiseless pickups are deep and clear classic fender, the humbucker is pure 70's rock on full back the volume down to 6-7 and it gets more singlecoil like. The humbucker also works well with the middle pickup which i can tell you from past experience, this style of pickup arrangement can produce some very ugly tones in position 4. The 57 has it balanced beautifully and on position 4 with the volume backed off can provide a very convincing knopfler tone. Classy guitar minimum setup required out the box. The necks a joy to play the soft v really seemed molded to my hand which isn't big. The only gripe i have is the nitro finish and its inherent stickiness if you buy one get ready to buff ... alot. The stickiness goes after awhile and i wouldnt change the guitar for a poly finished one.
