I was looking on the fender australia website, and found the fender classic series 50s road worn strat in sunburst, i was looking at the photos and on the back of the headstock it read; made in mexico, and with a MIM serial code. Is this a mistake or is the 60s road worn strat a MIM guitar or is it american.
Thanks

The current Road Worn® series is made in Mexico. Does it matter?

+1 on both counts.

The Ensenada-built Strats are very fine instruments indeed.

The price said all.
And in my opinion it is too expensive for a Mexican made guitar.

To me it does. I currently have a mexican strat and it plays really well, although ive played an american one and in my opinion it plays better, which is why I'd prefer to buy a MIA if i were to get another guitar

Not every guitar are same, we have to test drive many in same model.
Not every guitar are well set up or set up for your playing style.

I fix many guitars over the year, yes MIM are good but most of the time when you pay more, you get more.

I understand you may mot need a better guitar, playing music is more important than gear.

The price may or may not have been too high, but I have to second the notion that the MIM instruments--Strats and Teles--are the best-bang-for-the-buck guitars out there. My main guitar is an hecho-en-Mexico Telecaster, and if I had to replace my Stratocaster, I would have no qualms about going with an Ensenada Mama.

While I am not into the whole relics thing that is one fine looking guitar. Intriguing to have a guitar you don't have to worry about getting a ding in. I always wondered how do you know you're buying a mint condition one when buying used?

Shimmilou, that looks more like a "closet classic" than a road-worn. Are you certain of its pedigree?

A fine looking specimen in any case though.

I've just accidentally bought one on ebay. It was buy it now or make an offer, so I did.

The previous owner made an effort at a heavy relic which seems, from the pictures, to have involved rubbing it a bit with medium sandpaper. I'm still waiting for its arrival but hope I can manage to get it to something a little more authentic.

I'll admit to having a relic itch I've wanted to scratch for a bit now so, hopefully, this will get it out of my system.

So long as a belt sander, ice pick, or soldering iron (for the obligatory faux cigarette burn on the headstock) weren't used, you may be able to squeeze the mess into some form or fashion befitting potable lemonade.

Post some pics when it arrives, John.

lol, yeah, thx. I bought it off the wall at Sweetwater when I visited a few months ago. But, yes, it certainly looks nice, and it certainly could be confused with a CC. :D

Get a steel trem block installed and you'll have a friend for life.
