Hendrix had me wanting that first Strat back in the '70's. Subsequently I went for a Les Paul 'cause of Jimmy Page but they are so danged heavy - not anywhere near as comfortable as a Strat and tonally limited. Thus I have several Strats and only one Lester (the light weight ES Les Paul).

I started playing at the height of the Vaughan Brothers fame. I wanted a Tele because of Muddy and Keef, but a Strat because of Jimmie and Stevie. I got a Strat first, because I ran across this beauty:

Nowadays, I play my Telecasters a lot more...but every time I pull out Fiesta Red, I fall in love again...

Thank you so much for this award.

Thank you, Arjay.
I've always thought it was one of the prettiest Strats I had ever seen, but I'm not sure if it's really that pretty, or if I'm just showing favoritism because it's mine.. Kinda like how you think your own babies are cute, when other people think they look like a frog...

Feel free to add pics of your Strats as well (as in the Tele thread which had some nice ones).

This one has special meaning to me from 2008:

Yes, we all love pics, don't we?! Here are my various US Strats:

2006 white Standard, modded to HH (not keen on the SD Jazz Neck p/up, bit wimpy with the JB bridge - although I know Seymour The Man likes it!)
2006 sunburst Standard, modded to HH (Pearly Gates bridge and Jazz Bridge in neck, love this combo).
1993 Plus, refin Sonic Blue (is actually lighter in the flesh than the photo), fitted Supervee trem, otherwise standard.
2012 Fiesta Red CS Custom Deluxe, fitted string trees, otherwise standard.
2014 Surf Green Special, refretted with medium jumbos, otherwise standard. Cheapest, but most played - surprisingly - it really is a lovely guitar!

Cheers - Peter.

Because I "cut my teeth" on this 1985 Harmony H80T Strat copy...and nothing else feels like a Strat.
Image
Like others have said; I've tried other makes, and nothing else fits like a Strat.
I have 3 Stratocaster's, a Squire Bullet (heavy mod.), and that Harmony. Have tried 2 Tele's, and Les Paul's (Epiphone)...can't find any love or feel for them---sold almost as quickly as bought.

1. Mark Knopfler
2. It looked cool
3. It sounds cool
4. The girl I fancied also liked strats....

Never got the girl, but did end up with a strat that's (almost) as equally pretty!
