Hello everyone!

I've been offered a Floyd Rose Strat which, using the SN, is an American Deluxe from 2000. The seller claims it to be all original. The thing is, if you check the pic, there is something strange with the SN. There seems to be 2 different fonts there. Not sure.

Anyone can tell me all you can about this axe, and approx price?

Thank you!

Th DZ0 bit will be a constant for the production period, and the remainder will be the individual serial, and it is normal to have the 2 parts of the serial in different fonts.
So if you see a Deluxe Strat with the serial in a single font be rightly suspicious.

This is one of those "anything is possible" deals with Fender - I know they were using those "FN" prefix numbers on these when they were still called the "Floyd Rose Classic"; at some point these were renamed with the tongue-twisting moniker "American Stratocaster Special Double-Locking HSS" or something similar to that. I suppose that they could have switched to the "DZ" serial number prefix for the last couple of years that this model was available. As Stratmangler says the two different fonts is pretty typical - the "DZ0" prefix and the words "Serial Number" are one decal; the other 5-6 digits that are the actual serial number are another decal.

All the rest of the guitar looks right to me - vintage tuners, OFR, etc. However, I think the bridge pickup has been swapped out - the Fender pickup had 2 adjustment screws on the bass side and this one has 1 adjustment screw (you can see the left-over holes from the original pickup). I think that by this time the original bridge pickup would have been the fairly ubiquitous Fender DH-1. The ones from earlier in the 1990s (when they were definitely called the "Floyd Rose Classic") used a double-white coil DiMarzio PAF Pro humbucker (complete with the "DiMarizo" logo on it).

This topic is worth checking, there are some pics of a similar guitar with "DZ3": 2004 Anniversary American Deluxe HSS with Floyd Rose

Thank you, people!! You are being very helpful. I've contacted Fender directly too and Im waiting for their response.

In the meantime... Any clues on pricing...? The guy is asking for 1700€ (EURO and USD are more or less the same nowadays)

Thank you!

That seems to be slightly high, particularly with the swapped out bridge pickup. However, the value for these is all over the place. One sold on eBay here in the USA for $900 (which considering these are getting kind of rare seems slightly low) and one sold in the Netherlands for $1,552 US (I think it was listed for $1,399 Euros). Both of these were 1990s "Floyd Rose Classic" models. There is another Floyd Rose Classic up on USA eBay for $1,600 - with no bids.

They finnally replied concerning the pickup:

The DH-1 would be a white covered pickup. That one must be a replacement aftermarket pickup.

Cool - I wonder if the replacement bridge pickup is a DiMarzio PAF Pro - they are available in double black coils, and both coils have those allen wrench screw polepieces. The PAF Pro was the stock pickup before they switched to the Fender DH-1 in 1998, so maybe someone was trying to make their 2000 sound like the earlier version.

I too thought the pickup to be DiMarzio, possibly a PAF Pro.
I'd also try to knock the vendor's asking price down - there's an image of some nekkid guy on the back of the guitar

There was also an HH model featuring dual Atomic humbuckers. Discontinued in 2002.

The last batch of HSS Strats with Floyd Rose sported a Diamondback humbucker in the bridge position before their discontinuation in 2003.
