Are the 1999 American Standard Strats nitro or poly? I just do not like the poly finishes. I like checking on a guitar & finger marks on a maple finger board. Thanks.

American Standards have urethane finish; they have since the beginning (1987-ish).

That's what I was afraid. The search will continue.

Sounds like you would prefer a American Vintage Reissue. Nitro on the body and neck.

T2

That's right T2, but they are too expensive. Weren't the Highway One's nitro? I always liked that model. A great combination of modern & vintage.

Yes, Highway Ones were nitro. Originally, it was "satin" (matte) but in time it gets shinier - some even polished the finish.

How much are you going to invest? Maybe check the Classic Series Lacquer and Road Worn models.
Or just wait around, I bet some AmStd's have reliced in time. And why just 1999?

There's one advertised in a store that I'll be near today & I've always had good luck there.

On the Highway 1s just the bodies were the matte nitro; the necks were still urethane like the American Standards.

If you are looking for an affordable strat with a Nitrocellulose finish, both the Classic Series '50s Stratocaster Lacquer and the Classic Series '60s Stratocaster Lacquer have a nitro finsih on the body and neck.
