Have yet to play a guitar with one that made me want that option!

Is it a reason for buying a guitar?
No!
Is it a reason for not buying a guitar?
No!

Is too much made of it, whether it's positive or negative comments?
You bet your bottom dollar it is.
I'm pretty well agnostic with regards to fingerboard radius.
I get on with 7.25", 9.5", 12" & compound radius fingerboards, and do you think that the radius crosses my mind once when I'm playing?
It doesn't, and never has.

I love my Am Deluxe, and my Mex Standard, and my son's Mex 60s lacquer equally.
They're all great guitars to play, and the radius doesn't even come up on the radar.

I have a Strat and a Tele with compound radius fret boards. I like them both. I would not pick a guitar just for that but I do like the feel.

I have three compound radius necks. I like them all. If I had a choice, I would choose a guitar that had it. But not having it, isn't a deal breaker for me.

I've never owned one.
I've played them in music stores and honestly I can't see what the hubbub is about.
It's never struck me as earth shattering.
Would I buy one?
I dunno .... maybe.
I guess it would depend on how much I liked the guitar.
I don't think the compound aspect would be something that kept me awake at night while I "slept on it" thinking about whether to buy it or not.

Just trying to figure out why Fender charges less than that
eBayspheric and Fender is out of stock, but the other sphere
is selling them like hotcakes.

I have an AmSpcl, 60th Anniversary Commemorative, and a recently purchased USA Professional. I can't discern any significant difference and like the neck/fret board of all three. Any future purchases would not include a compound radius FB as a prerequisite.

I forget the guy's name, Mike.
I think it might be Matt but I'm not sure anymore.
I've slept since then.

One of the things that comes up from time to time is a theory that he tends to buy guitars in lots.
He is thought to lay claim to a quarter or a tenth (or whatever) of a run of some model, buying directly from Fender and then end up with a glut of a certain kind of neck or loaded body in his inventory, which he sells at his leisure. That's just a speculation. I've never seen anyone provide anything to substantiate the theory but it does seem to persist. I've heard that hypothesis a few times.

After years of not having used a compound radius, I was sceptical; but, this time I wanted the Amn Dlx so I decided to give it a go.

When I first demoed it, I found some trouble chording since I was not accustomed to the narrowing of the neck. I had my salesman demo it successfully, took it home, and I am glad I made the choice. It and I have become friends with the initial chording experience taken care of from familiarity.

I have a major problem with my hands cramping (even locking) at times, and the compound radius neck seems to work well for me. Non compound radius necks are okay too; however, this one does the trick and the Strat (earlier and later models) in general have always been comfortable IMHO. YMMV

Playing the guitar causes my hand to cramp up as well. I prefer the soft V Clapton neck over a baseball bat neck.

I don't like them.

I like 9.5 & 12 only...and I wouldn't even want them together on one neck. It's just what I'm used to playing, and what I developed my feel for and playing style.
