My son bought me a 2000 American Deluxe Strat for mother's day. I was shocked. I ran the serial number but am trying to learn as much as I can about it. It is red. Does anyone know the stock color. I believe it is crimson. It is virtually pristine condition. Just wanting to learn all I can. All guitars have a personalty. I am hoping to get more info so I can appreciate who it is. It's already beautiful but needs a name and home

If it is a translucent colour then it is called Crimson Red Transparent.
2000 was the first year of the "rolled edge" fretboard.
The guitar should have ablone dot markers, 22 frets, 9.5" radius, sealed tuners, micro tilt neck joint, 2 point synchronized vibrato bridge and Vintage Noiseless pickups.

There were a couple of variations on the model, most notably the Fat Strat and the Fat Strat Locking versions. Both of those versions will have all the same things as mentioned plus a Trembucker, an LSR roller nut, locking tuners and the Locking version will also have a Floyd Rose Fender bridge. That bridge was never offered on any other brands and I don't think it was even offered on any other Fender models either. It has been discontinued for some time. I know quite a bit about that bridge so if yours has it let me know.

A picture would help greatly.

Welcome to our forum.

Rolled edge necks debuted in 1998.

I do not seem to have the ability to upload a picture. It is translucent so I am guessing you are correct with the crimson. It is not a Fat Strat.

Fat Strats do not have a trembucker. They sport an earlier version of the Atomic humbucker with aged white bobbins and two dual-coil ceramic stacks in the neck and middle positions to balance things out. Fender switched to the more conventional HSS prefix in 2004.

It certainly looks like an American Deluxe.
Someone has changed the pick guard.
If it is a Fender guard it looks like it could be a guard from the Hot-Rodded American Series but there are dozens of other possibilities where it comes from.
I put a "moto" style guard on mine, too.

My colour is called Purple Transparent.
I got my guard from WD.
Mine is a '98 and it does not have the rolled edge neck.

If you would like to get the full rundown on your guitar, just contact Fender Consumer Relations and send them an email with your full serial number. They field those kinds of questions all the time. Just go to the very bottom of this page and click Contact on the right side column and then click Product Support after that.
Or within your email program use the address:
consumerrelations@fender.com

Give them time.
It can take a few days.

In the meantime, I can tell you Fender part number for your guitar was 010-1002.
The colour code for Crimson Red Transparent was 38.
Other available colour codes were:
00 - 3 colour burst
01 - white blonde
06 - black
21 - natural
48 - teal green transparent
My purple option was only available in '98.
The VN pups were designed to try to emulate pups from the late 50s to early 60s but without 60 cycle hum and that was why they were called vintage noiseless.

All American Deluxes feature rolled edge necks, including yours.

The moto guard looks cool when coupled with the dome metal knobs. Put a matching tip in the 5-way selector and everything would be perfect.
