Some of you may remember when I first acquired this guitar. It wasn't exactly doing its thing and after having it carefully looked over it turned out that the mini-toggle which turns the pre-amp on and off was defective and needed replacement.

A seriously dangerous instrument when aroused. 8)

Thank you. I looked that good too when I was 28 1/2 years old.

+1 mud...an ultra rare classic...a preserved Clapton prototype...pretty sure Fender doesn't have one...

Love the aged neck tint & Lace Sensors...and now it roars! YAY

...BTW Doc..that guitar isn't really from the 60's...hehehe

How long has it been down Doc..seems like its been alluded to several times?

...guess it's so many guitars..etc. : )

The next new Clapton phase (probably) is the "Hot Rod Brownie"...

Neck: Clapton aged 12 years..22 Med Jumbo frets..Gotoh Vint Locking Tuners...

Body: New (Fender VHR)...2 tone select Ash...Vintage contours...2 Pt Tremolo...Nitro finish...

Electronics: DiMarzio Area 61-58-67 (SC HB) Pups...Clapton Mid Boost...P/P for Nk-Br combination...

Martian re-fretted it and advised me on the Electronics...

Now there's a guitar just oozing with nostalgia from every pore.

YMMV RIP 8)

ZZ...You did keep that defective switch though right? Great looking guitar, never tire of seeing it!

Yah....defective original equipment should significantly increase the value of the guitar.
Speaking of which, my tech and I did some research in Vintage Guitar guide and found that 12 of these were made, initially for the winter NAMM in '88 we believe, before Clapton revised the design of the electronics to nix the switch and added a 22nd fret to the neck. I like the idea that one can completely lock out any influence of the preamp by using that switch. Not so with the revision employing the stereo jack.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

A tad less angry, that.
This is filtered light coming through an opaque glass door on a marble floor.
It's definitely Torino Red in the flesh.

Thanks for the cudos. The King Snake is a beast. Fortunately they had the wisdom to wire in a 10W setting to allow playing in the house tolerable.

Gotta love that 10watt class A setting.
Love the red Doc. Looks gentle to me, not angry. Almost pastel coloured. Lovely guitar mate

There's a bit of a washout on the colour due to the ground glass effect on the morning light coming through the door in the entry hallway floor on which the guitar rests. I expect that the marble has something to do with it as well. The finish is most definitely Torino Red.

Hi Doc, am I right in thinking that the 2 E's are very close to the edge of the board? Or is it a trick of the light/camera/angle, whatever?

Cheers - Peter.
