I'm confucius...
The issue started with replacing a switch plus adding one jumper wire.
Now it's new caps, hours of wiring, perplexia, harnesses..?
I'm starting to think using a pro might be a) faster b) more reliable and c) eventually cheaper option to get the guitar playing.

Very true... When I get it back, it's going in the shop.

Well, I put it in the shop. After a quick look over of the wiring, he couldn't find anything wrong.
I'll find out once he gets more time with her.

Sometimes I'm sorry I ever open things up... too many worms crawl out.

Well.. after a complete rewire including new pots, cap, and switch, it came down to a bad neck pickup (broken coil wire). Luckily, I had a spare set of pups. She is back and playing again.

I compared the tone of the Standard Mexi pups to the 57/62s. Oddly the Mexis seem a little more powerful (not much) and have that Strat quack you would expect. The 57/62s seem a bit warmer, with less power.
