Hi, new to the site, and could use some help. I have a American Strat with 3 single coil pickups, I want to put a humbucker in the bridge position, is this possible? Or is this a major modification. Im looking for more Crunch.

Thanks in Advance

If your guitar is not presently routed for a humbucker, that will be required. Your pickguard will have to be changed and, of course, the approprate rewiring.

Consider purchasing one of Fender's humbucker equipped guitars, and swap out for a hotter pikcup design, or an aftermarket pickup of single coil configuration (e.g. hotrails) that has the power you are lookng for that you can retrofit into your present guitar.

I trust you'll be hearing more from other contributors.

i swear by the dimazio fast-track2 for crunch/metal. its cheaper than seymours, sounds better to my ear and comes single coil sized. its also very easy to wire in. join the black and white leads together, red to the pickup switch green to the top of the volume pot.

Hi squido & welcome aboard!
This is the humbucker I have in my 93 american strat that is only routed for single coils.

High output single-coil-size "rails" humbucker. Great for everything from heavy blues to heavy metal.
I used a pearly gates (not plus) long ago for a while on a strat that I had routed for humbucker...
(strat was later stolen).
But I finally found the pickup i liked in the JB.
