Hi everyone. Just joined the forum so lets get right to it...
I want to know if it is simple swap the bridge/tremolo on an

(2 Heavy-duty pivot screws allow you to do a variety of vibrato work while the solid steel saddles provide the tone and sustain that is truely Fender)

with the bridge/tremolo that now comes on the
New American Standard Strats.

(A new bridge with improved bent-steel saddles and a copper-infused high-mass block for increased resonance and sustain.)

I understand that anything is possible....
Is this a stupid idea?
If so what are the highlight differences in the two bridges that make it a bad idea?
I just want to know if it would require rediculous mods or is it a simple swap & setup?

You only need to swap the saddles.

Cheers, and welcome to the Forum

Fender says "A new bridge with... ...a copper-infused high-mass block for increased resonance and sustain".
So technically, isn't that a difference in the two bridges? Is it a big difference?
Thats not exactly the same as just replacing the saddles is it?

Yeah, all right. Check the two poles are the same distance apart (I'm sure they will be) and then swap the whole bridge - if you really want to.

hmmm...
Another thought I just had is that the chrome tremolo arm pops in on the Amer Deluxe FMT bridge rather than the screw in style that the regular American Standard tremolos have.
Also, someone told me (not sure if it is true) but they said it's stainless steel (either in the saddles or the whole trem) on the FMT where as the reg amer standards have just steel saddles or whatever. So with that said maybe u are right... just swap the saddles only to start see if that suits... then go from there...

I think the biggest difference would be what bss said: the Deluxe has a pop-in trem arm while the Standard has a screw-in. Other than that, the two bridges operate the same way and I doubt you would notice any difference.

My suggestion would be to save your money up and buy an entire American Standard. You need at least two Strats (to have one as backup at a gig in case a string breaks).

Yeah, the FMT is the Bomb! But I love the straight forward wiring with no S1 switching in the standard as well... In the end I will have to Primo flagship Fender strats... It is going to be so fun to dig in on them...

Hello Isisuma,

Saddles on your FMT have
offset intonation screws.
Standard fender bent steel
are center screws.

Visit the Calaham website
for the saddles you'll need.

Cheers.
