G'day Ya'll :D

The other day I picked up a Candy Apple Red 2006 57 AVRI Strat.

https://scontent-lax3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hp ... e=5782867E

I just wanted to see what the differences are in specs with this model since 1982.

If anyone has the exact specs for the 2006 run I would sincerely appreciate a copy.

Keep on Rockin!!

Page 59 of the 2006 Fender catalogue (see Fender website) gives a description of the '57 vintage strat. However, Candy Apple Red is not listed as one of the color options. I don't know if this is what the OP is asking about or not? Also, 57/62 beveled pups, ash tray, alder body, 3 way switch with 5 way kit, single ply pickguard, neck shape?, case & goodies.

^^^ yep one of the reasons I went for the Hotrod over the traditional AVRI. CAR paint.
I have seen CAR AVRI 57's. But they were from the 80's.

Yah! With a bit of arm twisting from this side of the pond as I recollect. Awhile would be about 9 years now.
BTW: My sunburst was swapped out for this:Image

That's a 60th Anniversary '54 [1 of 54]. I promised myself I wouldn't go for the guitar unless it had the LTD neck plate. The Hotrod was my nod to Buddy Holly until this one came along.

Not sure how I missed this post. Here is my '82 '57 Vintage Reissue Stratocaster...that's what they called them back then. The neck is rounded, no V, the finish is Nitro, and these first ones had softer/deeper cutouts. Came with a nice tweed case with the orange lining.

David Gilmour acquired two of those back in the day. One of 'em was the famous Red Strat. The other was white. The neck on your guitar is the same carve as the '57V neck which was swapped to the Black Strat from the white guitar in 2005 during the 'On An Island' recording sessions. Same neck on my Gilmour repro. An easy player.

Yes this one plays so easy. Hard to believe this one is 34 years old! The fretboard has some serious wear and it needs some fret work done, still fully playable and I could probably get another year or so of gigs out of it, but it is semi retired now. Not like I don't have 5 other Strats to play! We've been through at least five different gigging bands together, it deserves a good rest!

I think the newest ones are probably closest to the original '57 specs. Nice V neck, thin nitro finish, correct 12th fret dot spacing, with decent body scoops, and the pickups have the ground rounded magnets. Over the years since '82, they have steadily corrected them closer to original specs.

Which model reflects these specs?
