The passive Dimension Bass HH is the only American Standard instrument to sport the spoken-wheel truss rod system, which was recently implemented on the new Elite series guitars and basses.

How about updating the whole American Standard line with the spoken-wheel truss rod?

To be honest I really dislike that solution on new Elites, looks kinda out of place for me...with cut out in the bottom of the neck...Not for me.

I don't like the look, I don't like this big mechanical wheel and the fret board hole.
That's ugly to me.

It is remember to me some low cost japan (? ) made guitar in the '60/'70.

The functionality of the wheel adjuster is great; Fender's implementation isn't as slick as some other companies like EBMM or the old Levinson Blade guitars.

However - here are my reasons for not implementing it on other models for the foreseeable future:

1. Let's keep the American Elites kind of exclusive for the moment - for years some have complained that the American Deluxes were just American Standards with some options. Now the Elites are clearly different than the American Standards.

2. No one currently makes replacement bodies or necks that fit the wheel truss rod adjuster. There has to be a big chunk taken out of the body for it, and of course there's a big chunk taken out of the fingerboard. I'm not one to swap out those parts, but there are a lot of folks who like to mod their guitars with say larger necks. I would like to see Fender maintain the American Standard as one of those models where you can still mod to your heart's content. Now if someone starts making compatible parts for the American Elite, then it is time to consider rolling it out further.

I also realize that is kind of a "chicken and the egg" situation - until there is a large base of guitars with the wheel truss rod out there and there is a demand for neck options no one like Warmoth is going to start making compatible necks, and I'm saying don't move this to other models until that happens.

I am in definite disagreement with most of the opinions here. Aesthetically speaking, the beautiful no-hole headstock more than makes up with the issues that people are seeing at the bottom of the fretboard. Especially with someone playing it, you can barely see it. The headstock on the other hand ... great improvement.

I sometimes "fret" on the fretboard past the last fret. That seems impractical with the new solution.
To me, it looks like a 6 year old who has lost both front teeth.

And, of course, the neck incompatibility. The classic models are going to be made for any foreseeable future, but these new necks might not be. For every ten times guitar manufacturers try something new, there's perhaps one or two that make it, long term. For anything new that's also incompatible, less than that.

Sometimes, I don't mind taking a risk, if I either truly believe the new product will succeed, or it excites me enough that don't give a damn if it will be worthless and near impossible to sell down the road. This is not one of these times. To me, this is a wait-and-see product. YMMV.

The wheels of change ha!
Looks like a new Elite pickguard template on the way, for us players who like a little personalizing.

The maple boards with a light colored guard and the wheel seems less noticable.
Gold wheel for maple boards, and black for rosewood.

Apart from that, overall specs look real nice, love the tone & clarity of the new model Noiseless pickups.

There's too many negative feedback for the spoken-wheel system, I think Fender should reinstate the BiFlex/MicroTilt combo on the Elites otherwise the series will not last long.

Yah .....
(heavy sigh ...)
It's not very attractive, is it?

Ugh .... what were they thinking?
I'm all for making things easier, new and improved or whatever but it's seriously in need an access cover.
Or something.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Not only is it fugly, IMHO they haven't really improved on the truss rod of the original vintage models! I haven't had to adjust my original style truss rods in years! Even when I was gigging steady, once you got the guitar set up right, (I don't use the whammy) it was pretty much set it and forget it!
