I found a guitar for sale with a headstock logo I've never seen before....
Its a mint condition 1994 Mexi Strat... the logo says "Fender Stratocaster" then closer to the end of the head its says "Squier"

So... is it a Squier, or a Fender?

I guess I never knew that the 90's Squiers used the fender name on the headstock.
I thought they all said "Squier Stratocaster" or "Squier Strat"
I searched Reverb.com and found this one.....
The headstock is exactly the same, just without the little squier logo.

Nahh, just us regulars can point you onwards.

It's a Fender - my firm belief is that FMIC has the authoritah to make that decision. Some further reading here (google also has a lot to tell...): Fender Squier Series

There are many opinions on how those guitars came to be, but anyways the price level should usually be a bit below a MIM Standard of the same era and consition.

One thing to note: on that one pic, I ain't taking sides if the guitar is authentic. That's the first MIM Squier Series Strat I've seen with two string guides, so check a bit further; the neck pocket and electronics tell more. (The placement of the G/D tree suggests it may be an afterwards mod.)

Edit:

My guess is, a minor sandpaper accident on exactly that area of the headstock is the most common upgrade on the Squier Series Fenders...

I am no expert but I think the post you were referring to is about Squier Affinity. I believe that the earliest squiers had large Fender logo with a smaller Squier logo

thnx guys!
sfceric64 that article is the perfect explanation I was looking for.

That being said I'm Looking for a good starter guitar for my wife, I may still jump on this thing for $150. From what I've read, these normally sell for a little less than the Mexi standards.
