I know there may be another thread on this somewhere but im not on here much. Just wanted to post my dream strat .

Itd be a modern standard shape with 22 medium jumbo frets, mahogany body ,c shape mahogany neck through neck , make two radius's like 9.5 and 12" no compound radius ( with rosewood or maple fretboard option ) the headstock would still be maple , some kind of locking tremolo- something new here . Someone has to upgrade the floyd . We need a true top mount that isn't clunky like the new top mount floyds or a kahler . Something that is small but still has fine tuners and have it where you slide the strings through then clamp them. Same with an upgrade on the locking nut but ill keep that idea to myself ; )

One humbucker in the bridge could be anything from a hot paf or something fat like a tone zone. Set it up for a coil split with the pull of the vol knob ( no extra switches ) then the standard 5 way switch and its positions. Then instead of a volume knob and two tones, just a volume knob where the first tone is , and tone where the second tone is like normal .

Offer it in plenty of classic and modern colors including the new flame tops.

Fender could offer this at close to 2k and itd be worth it in my opinion.

I see no reason to stick to the classic bolt on traditions...if you can do a metal telecaster with EMG's you could certainly do this.
Just my thoughts .

I don't know about $2k (assuming you're in the US), but over here you could get what you want from various custom builders for £2k, probably with some left over.

Except for the trem, of course, because you're asking for something that isn't currently made (AFAIK). But otherwise...

Can't see Fender doing it, though. For better or worse (for us), they stick to the big sellers. Makes sense business-wise, no doubt!

Cheers - Peter.

Fender have Charvel which is perhaps a brand more suitable for such an instrument and would avoid watering down the Strat brand through diversification.

With no disrespect I do chuckle at "I'd like a Strat but I want....." because it isn't a Strat. I am sure I will be in the minority but I think a Strat should be SSS and anything else is something else.

+1

Let B.C. Rich, Jackson, and Charvel build those "something else" guitars.

This might come off as being rude but that's not my intention.
Just a little realism.

IMO, asking for a Strat equipped with hardware that doesn't exist except in your imagination is like asking for a horse with wings.
We've all seen pictures of one even though we all know it's not actually real.
Contact the Fender Custom Shop.
Putting wings on horses is their chosen profession.
With enough resources it might be possible.

How does that work then?

The serious comment: I very much doubt that would become a best seller. You could try and order one from the Custom Shop, of course.

The tongue-in-cheek department:

What's that?
And anyway, you're describing something that isn't a Strat, so why not something completely different?
57trouble wrote:

So it's not for anyone with shoulder or back problems. A tool for heavy rock..?
57trouble wrote:

Different tremolo systems have been designed for ages - many (most?) "newcomers" just can't compete with Leo's original Strat trem. And Ibanez isn't a part of FMIC.

Painting or flame topping mahogany - aw, c'mon. What's next, painting flame tops with solid?

The Custom Shop guys probably have a different opinion.
57trouble wrote:

Bolt on is an improvement. Just try to change the neck angle on a neck through. Or switch necks, should you want a different radius, profile, fretboard etc.

Easy peasy ...
You just use wood from a hybrid tree.
It grows mahogany up to a certain point and then grows maple from that point on.

Sorry 57, couldn't resist. You have to admit it does sound a little bit out there.

I think the poster is simply "fantisizing"....nothing wrong with that. If he asked Fender to make him one (I seen terms like "could" and "should"), I must have missed it.
Does everyone have to be so serious every time?

"some kind of locking tremolo"

Hmm, let's see... Fender did a Mini Floyd Rose bridge assembly with an LSR roller nut and locking tuners in 1993 - essentially a 2-point American bridge with locking saddles. This product is no longer made and FMIC had no future plans to reissue it - even as an option for the American Elites.

+1 for the Custom Shop route.

Perhaps the OP wants a guitar similar to this:

(Guitar is not mine).

Unfortunately the Showmaster is no longer produced.

I've never had a stock guitar that was "everything" I want it to be...because Fender doesn't make it as a production instrument, and I can't/won't afford a custom shop instrument. So, I've modified a few of my guitars over the years--some subtly, others a bit more noticeably, in order to get closer to my vision of the perfect instrument.

Of course, that means that I still don't have "THE ONE"...

My hecho-en-Mexico Telecaster comes dang close in it's playability and feel, and is exactly what I want sonically and electronically...it's the closest to my dream guitar, but still lacks in a few aspects.

My Stratocaster has several of the (visual) elements I want, especially the Fiesta Red finish, the rosewood fingerboard, and the tint of the neck.

My recently-acquired Modern Player Thinline Deluxe Telecaster has the (Thinline) body I want and neck tint and neck profile I want...but not the type of body wood, fretboard material, or the outlay of the knobs/switches I prefer.

What I will ultimately have to do to make the design in my head a reality is make a Franken-Tele or a Partscaster or Telebastard or whatever you want to call it...it will (by necessity) be a mixture of Genuine Fender and aftermarket parts, and it will probably end up being my most expensive instrument (but least valuable as far as resale value), in total, the body and neck eating up the majority of that cost...but as I have priced it out, it will still be significantly cheaper and faster than a Custom Shop instrument, and I can put my own name on it!
...and then I'll probably want a second and a third one to keep in alternate tunings, lol...just kidding...maybe...

Anyway, if the OP wants such a unique instrument, he's going to have to either (1) go Fender Custom Shop (expensive, they don't have his self-designed tremolo in stock and a long wait), (2) go with a different brand (which probably still won't have his exact specs, especially in the bridge/tremolo...and still expensive), (3) go boutique (expensive, and the tremolo) or (4) build it himself (where ya gonna get that tremolo and find a neck-through body and neck at a reasonable price?).

The hardest feature of his design are that (as-of-right-now) non-existent bridge...and that will probably be the most expensive part, trying to get somebody to tool up and manufacture this thing he has dreamed up.
