Hi all, any "general / more or less" idea what a Japanese Strat, dated '84 to '87 is worth? ...
It's still spotless, very well looked after.

Craftsmanship on this beast is great. Equal, if not better .... ;) doh!; compared to some Mexican - and even some US 90's to 2000 models.
No pictures unfortunately :(

The info you give doesn't help much...

Based on just "it's a Stratocaster", "it's MIJ", "it's near mint" and not knowing if it's a Fender, Squier or Partscaster (let alone a fake), any number between 100 and 1000 could be possible, in either $, £, or €, with a +25% error margin and depending on the general price level of the area the guitar is sold.
Or just or six magic beans

For a serious answer, you gotta give enough background data.

LoL, thanks JMatis ;) ... Read you Lima Charlie ;) ... Fair sarcasm :) thanks for taking trouble in responding ;)

Ok, assume the following facts:

Authentic Fender, not fake
Fender (not Squire),
E-series Serial Nr,
Schaller bridge with locknut,
Red, white scratchplate
SSS pickups ...
:)

Okay, based on that description - more or less $400 assuming there are no missing parts on the System 1 trem or string clamp.

That 400$ seems fair enough for US, in Europe it's usual to have to cough up some 600-700€ for those.

@Jhaylward, AllKool & glad you got my drift. We try to help on the forum, but were not magicians - at least not me.

Just curious.
Is the reason you have no pic's, because you don't own it yet? You're affraid to post a link, for fear of competition buyers? Or simply just not the computer/pic savy type?

Secondly: Is there any "oxidation" on the metal parts of this 80's axe? I ask, because you say "spotless"....and....well....I own an 85' Harmony Start copy (Korean) that I TRIED to take really good care of, and yet has oxidation on the hardware.
But mine has been played, and played, and played too. If that Japenese Strat is spotless....someone kept it in a case or controled atmosphere. Or................
