saw this on Criagslist.. not good at identifying Strat's.. I think it looks good.. and figured $1600 isn't too bad for it either.

anyone's thoughts?

Seems authentic to me.

I agree; it's an authentic 2004 50th Anniversary American Deluxe Strat.

However, $1,600 is a bit much; it should be more like $1,200. They were only made for one year, but it wasn't a limited run - they made as many of them as were ordered from the NAMM show in January until they hit a cut-off date for orders in the fall. I think they were still shipping the last batches in early 2005.

At any rate there were 4 of these actual 50th Anniversary American Deluxes that sold recently on eBay - 2 sold for $1,200; one was listed at $1,349 but sold for a "best offer", and the 4th was listed as a "never played" at $2,000 but also sold for "best offer" (eBay doesn't show what the "best offer" was).

that's what I thought it looked real

btw.. Canada has a bit higher resale prices.. so $1200 us might be ok.
but I see a new MIA standard is $1800cdn and one in Sienna burst is like $1950 new; with Deluxe's $2500cdn and up.
I'll let my buddy know he's good to go and see if he picks this one up.

thanks

Sorry; I didn't know you were in Canada so I assumed USA pricing. $1,200 USA converts to $1,572cdn per the rate today on google, so $1,600cdn is a good deal, particularly given this one's almost unplayed condition.
