Bought this strat yesterday. I had an american special in surf green that I didn't bond with a few years ago, so, for the price ($450 Canadian) I thought I'd give this one a go and see if I love it. Made in 2007 Honey Blonde finish. It's been gigged and has lots of dents and dings SD Hot Rails in bridge and Grover tuners added. Plays really nice with low action. The hot rails sounds like a humbucker...more bass and full. I was thinking I'd put it back to stock, but, may end up keeping the HR in there. Can anyone tell me what the stock bridge pickup would have been, and, are they available aftermarket today?

Nice guitar, congrats.

The original pickups would be hot single coil AlNiCo3s, (text from Frontline 2007), the middle one is RWRP. Fender part number is #0054594000 in the wiring diagram (link below), but that's a bit confusing since some sellers don't specify the pup position. Anyway, those are still available, though not from Fender directly.

BTW, the Hot Rails is a humbucker, just in single coil size, and the "official" color is Honey blonde #367.

Nice score. Those are fine guitars, and the color is my favorite from the HWY 1's.

Enjoy!

Very nice indeed, and what a fantastic bargain! Doing the conversion, is that really £240 in England? I'd take a dozen at that price! Nitro finish - lovely!

Does it have the jumbo frets as per the Special? I just bought one like the one you couldn't bond with(!), and I have to say I do prefer the medium jumbos on my AmStds. Perhaps I should go back to 10's...

Cheers - Peter.

It does have the jumbo frets. I strung it up with some 10-46 guague strings. So far, I am loving it! Don't know what it was about the surf green special...It was super cool looking, and sounded sweet. I wanted to love it......
