Today the ups guy dropped off a brand new American Standard Stratocaster, Olympic white with a maple fretboard. It is my first ever Fender. I have a couple Custom les pauls, an Esp and an Ibanez bass. So far I am very impressed with the Strat. It plays very different from anything else I have tried. The quality is exceptional along with fit and finish. I looked for some time and couldn't find the slightest blemish. I am surprised at the range of tones it has, I didn't expect that much range. More than anything tho I am impressed with the playability of it. It just seems so easy to play and manage. Its very light and feels like it was built to be held onto unlike my les pauls which can feel like a small car under your arm altho I love them so. I just wanted to say I have a new girlfriend now and I am sold on Fenders now.

Don't be too quick to consign your Gibby's to the ash heap of history.

Welcome to Fender world! For me the Stratocaster is just right, it has its place in history for a reason. I consider it on one the greatest inventions of the past century.
Enjoy it!
Cheers

Welcome to the Fender World.

I used to be a Les Paul/SG player myself, then I got myself an American Standard Strat just like you, and I was impressed all the way.

Since then, I'm a Fender player, here are my two strats:

2013 AmStd Rosewood

1994 Southern Cross Series

But Arjay is right, enjoy the strat and keep at least a Lester, because they are very different guitars, like apples and oranges. You will probably love them both equally for that.

P.S. Arjay, very cool Lesters.
