Not really. I made a first attempt fifteen years ago (my father plays guitar), but dropped it after I couldn't get further. I now decided to try it again, and take lessons. The internet also makes it much easier to find stuff like tabs.

Guitar-Pro is great, they offer a trial version and you can download the tabes off of ultimate-guitar.com

I was a teacher some years ago and I'm starting to get into it again. There's a TON of stuff that most teachers won't tell you because they just want to drag everything out to make more money for themselves or the store that they work for. You guys all seem pretty damn cool to me so I've been helping wiiman out through his thread in the lounge with some scales and today I gave him a quick oversight of modes. Like I told him, a lot of people (like my bass player buddy says) are "scared away by my playing" and that kind of bums me out, but I WON'T dumb-down my playing to try to fit into the new metal scene. That's why I'm having such a hard time trying to form my own metal band where I'm at that could stand above the rest. Heck I've even played at 2 NAMM shows in the early 90's for crap's sake. Anyway I'd love to help ANYONE out here that REALLY wants to learn how to play for the right reasons. So if anyone has any questions, please don't hesitate to let me know and I'll get right to it. Oh yeah; I've also been playing piano since the age of 3 and I still play that everyday too and now I'm 36.

On a different note (no pun intended), I keep loving my MIM limited strat more and more everyday and this weekend I'll be teaming up with a buddy of mine to add some CRAZY solos and melodies to his newest song with that strat. Hopefully he won't mind if I post a link here to it so all of you dudes can check it out. Rock on my friends!!!!!!!!!
