I just bought the new Standard Plus Top with the Rosewood fretboard, this is my first ever Stratocaster and I totally love it, and the fears I used to have of the MiM strat being of lower quality is completely gone, this is sweet, the sound, the feel and playablity of it, I didn't even set it down most of the day when I brought It home. I am not a professional musician so the decision was easy to save 500 bucks and get this rather than the Made in USA one.. I played the US strat and there wasn't THAT much of a difference in feel or sound to make me want to drop that much money for something that is just gonna be used around my house and not in a band

I am of the opinion that the MIM's are generally as good as the MIA's. Yes, they are different in terms of certain features and specs, but you really can't go wrong with an MIM Stratocaster. Now those Plus Top Standards are some nice looking guitars.....it is a must that you post some pictures so that we might drool over your latest acquisition!!!!

Two MIM Strats:
a 2006 natural ash with rosewood board and the 60th anniversary badge, I think they made those for GC;
a first-year Road Worn 60s Strat in olympic white.

I just adore these guitars, and Strats in general!

I'm a long-time Strat owner, first time MIM owner...

I just picked up this beauty yesterday...see accompanying post:

http://forums.fender.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=87142

When I bought my first one way back in high school I was determined to come home with something Sunburst and Rosewood, but the detail on a Natural/Maple one just grabbed me and wouldn't let go. I've been silently and patiently longing for something Sunburst for many years now.

Coincidently, I paid the same amount ($300) for the never-used, used 2007 with gig bag as I did for my '75 with OHSC...times change.

Meanwhile, I'm really digging my new guitar. I'm not planning any significant mods yet, though I have a Seymour Duncan SSL-1 sitting around that may find a temporary home just for kicks! I'm sort of looking at the 57/62s...if any one has experience with them...

For now...enough typing...I've got a new guitar to play!

Cheers.

Here's one of my four MIM Strats. The body is from a Blacktop Strat and the neck and electrical components are from a Classic Player 50's. The pickguard is the same as that used on some of the American Deluxe Strats -- a beveled single-ply metallic gold pickguard. I tried an anodized gold pg but didn't like the feel of it so I went with this one.

The only upgrade I have planned for this one is a Callaham block, mainly for the virtual pop-in arm. I may go with the whole Callaham bridge/block/saddles upgrade kit, though.

Until October last year I never had a Strat after over twenty years of playing, but now I have three. I'm proud to say two of them are MIM's, but the other is CS 2012 Deluxe. The CS is an unbelievable guitar and the difference is immediately noticeable. BUT, my two MIM's are great guitars and incredible value for money considering both cost nearly half as much as the CS. NO snobbery here, no siree Bob.

Love them all in their own way. I know it's the wrong thread, but this is the CS to understand my love! ;)

Oldguy101...Sweet looking guitar...and I see your MIM Strat also has some very nice figuring to it's neck and headstock. Sure does seem like the MIMs get some nice wood...mine (see my avatar) has some great figuring to them...not sure why this is, but I have noticed it more on the MIM that any others...(Next to CS of Course).
