MIM std strat, serial 'MZ2........' makes it a 2002 unless im mistaken ? could have sworn i brought it later than that, i got it new though and they only did the special 'satin/teflon' finish for a year i think, 2 at most.

i didnt want a strat, i wasnt even looking for a guitar, but i had a quick go and it was so good i ended up walking out with it. saying that, if it didnt have that finish and black plastic, or it had a RW board i wouldnt have even picked it up.

Here's a club I need to join. You can call me a "reformed" guitar snob. Used to think only American made Fenders were good enough for me. Not sure what caused my bias (ignorance? ), but after having owned 8 American Strats in my time (currently have 3 and love them all), I finally bit the bullet and picked up a MIM Classic 60s Player in Sonic Blue (it was the color that grabbed my interest, but all the great reviews and opinions I've read about this model got me really excited- I don't think I've seen one negative comment so far on the 'net, and now I know why!).

Meet Carlita Azul (yeah, I name them, but only some of them 8) ).

Just lousy cell phone pics for now (got to find the digicam, but I am wanting to get the plastic off of the pic guard and wanted to at least have a shot or two with it on).

FWIW, the build, fit and finish quality is right up there with it's Gringo Cousins. The sound is a bit different, as they all are, I've got different p'ups in each (Clapton with Noiseless, American Standard and American '62 VRI). But it still sounds like a Strat, and another unique axe among the four, all good things!

A great addition to the collection, and a great value too. I think I foresee some more MIM Fenders in my future!

Hi everybody Im Alex and have been looking at this forum since I got offered the above guitar! I know very little about Fenders & especially Mexican ones but this plays really nicely and the seller wants 400 Uk pounds for it!
Any advice you guys could give me on it would be gratefully received...
I'm told its had its pickups replaced with bare knuckle ones - and it certainly kicks out heavy tones with hi gain sounds.
Just umming and ahhing at the mo! The serial number starts with MZ7 - and has 6 digits after.
thanks for your time all and theres some VERY nice guitars on here :-D

I had a MIM Standard Strat in 1997, but then "upgraded" to a MIA Strat in 2000. I've been using MIA Strats for the past 12 years, but never felt completely comfortable with them; I think that the wider nut width was the problem. Last month I traded my MIA for a 2007 MIM Standard Fat Strat plus cash and 2 effects pedals. The MIA was of higher quality, but this MIM actually sounds better (Carvin pick-ups) and is easier to play.

Once owned an MIM 2002 in Midnight Blue, had to sell it in 2008. Decided to get back into playing and after buying a Squier,HAD to find that same MIM from before.Craigslist was kind to me and I picked up a 2000 Standard MIM in the same colour, hardly played, not a scratch on it,for $250.Not too bad.

I have a 2007 Roadhouse which I bought new, the pups really are fantastic.

Also have a Blacktop HH which I sold my mia to fund. I don't like it as much as the Roadhouse but I like it alot more than the mia.

Please welcome a new member to the club. I am a closet player and I was a Gibson guy who owned Les Paul and SG models. But I had to round out my guitars and get a Fender Strat. I had my eye on a "surf" classic, light color with a maple fret board. Have been shopping for quite a while. Then a few days ago I went to GC for some strings and saw this beauty. 2008 Special Edition MIM Sienna Sunburst. It was so nice and played so well I pulled the trigger. It is in mint condition but, alas, I know little to nothing about Strats. I would like more info on the pups, so if anyone wants to enlighten me send me a private message. I am going to change out the back plate from white to a matching tortise shell four ply but other than that I am leaving it alone for now. Somewhere done the road I may drop a prewired SSS in it, who knows. Thanks for letting me join your organization. Other than Sam's and Costco, I am not a member of any other club! :)
