I own a '08-'09 Fender Road Worn 50's Stratocaster; Maple Neck; 2 Tone Sunburst. Personall I have never really warmed up to the idea of making a guitar "look" older than it really is. But, I got a really great deal on the guitar as it had been sitting on a guitar center shelf for two years and was therefore on "beyond clearance" and the NECK IS AMAZING!!!! I like a guitar that doesn't have a lot of finish on it because I like to let the wood breath. When I strike the low E on this guitar, I feel the whole thing humming 8)

I recently got around to taking some better pics of some of my Strats. Here's one of my earliest purchases, a MIM that I bought used about 1994. It's actually light yellow, not a faded Arctic White, but yellow. I recently swapped in the black pickguard and threw in a set of Mighty Mite split rails. I love it.

Here's my favorite MIM gigging guitar that I used almost exclusively in the 90s. I bought it used early in that decade, applied a lacewood veneer to the original 3-ply pickguard to make it my own. My son took advantage of my absence for a year or so and cut in that humbucker. I think I will make another pickguard and clean up the lines a bit. This Strat is arctic white.

Image

Here's a Mexi 60th Anniversary Strat in blizzard pearl that I bought last year. I couldn't get the Strat neck to set up the way I wanted it and I wanted to keep the guitar, so I put on a 90s MIM Tele neck, then figured what the heck and swapped out the pickguard and went to dual humbuckers - clean and mean!

Image

Here's one of my last MIM Strat purchases that I picked up a couple years ago at GC, a beautiful midnight wine. When I walked in one day all the boys were raving about this Strat that had just come in, how great it played, how nice the neck was... I took it home with me.

Image

Finally, here's a custom Strat that I built last October. It's an aftermarket Rockabilly Orange body, but a nice Fender neck off a friend's MIM Strat. I dropped in that loaded pearloid pickguard with my favorite H-S-S configuration and it's almost light as a feather.

2006 FSR Swamp Ash MIM. Replaced broken neck with a Mighty Might Birdseye Maple with ebony fretboard, abalone dots, jumbo frets. Replaced pickguard, and installed 2003 Fender American Pickups. AWESOME!!!!!

I got a 2007 Deluxe Player MIM back in August, and replaced the neck with a 84 MIJ that is one of the best necks i ever felt.

2007 MIM Fat-Strat here. love it! Will post a pic as soon as I figure out how. IMO when you are a moderate player and home studio guy like me the MIM is the best bang for the buck. It may not be the top of the line but it sure feels that way.

I've had my MIM Classic Series 70's Strat for about 13 years and I absolutely love it! Fit and finish is impeccable, U-shaped neck is extremely comfortable, and it sounds/plays great! I

Hello all...just joined the forum a short while ago and thought I'd post a before and after mod pic.

It's a 2008 MIM Black "Fat" Strat. Got it off CL.

Image

First mod was getting a right handed trem arm.
Aquired a Texas Special bridge pickup and replaced the bucker and replaced the white pickguard for a black.
Shortened the trem arm.
Installed a "Gilmour" switch.

Image

Also placed a rubberband around the volume knob for precision control.

Image

Plays like a dream!!

Glad to see this thread. It was enough reason for me to join!

I have a 95-96 40th Anniversary MIM Strat. It was vintage white, but the color looks more like banana pudding now.

The original p/ups sound all right, but just didn't quite have the bell tone I really like. I swapped them out for Duncans. Now it has a "Pearly Gates" in the bridge with the bottom tone knob doubling as a coil tap.

The neck and bridge have ssl-1s with an RWRP in the middle.

First time I've heard of the Gilmour switch. LOL @ myself, because I've read much about his setup over the years.

However, I do in fact have my Strat wired so that in position 3, the neck and bridge p/ups are on. When I combine that with the coil tap for the HB in the bridge, I have lots of options. :)
