Played a few MIM's, finally got one, a Deluxe Player's Strat. Zero probs and does everything I ask of it. That's all you can ask, IMHO.

Hi Guys

Yesterday i picked up my first MIM Stratocaster, as 2011 FSR in Copper Metallic Burst. Wow it is amazing it plays like a dream and compared to my American Special Stratocaster is a lot more mellow. The Special has Texas special bups and a greasebucket tone circuit.

The colour is amazing, I not usually one for Sunburst type paint jobs but this one is awesome!!!!

Here are some photo's:

I have a blue 2008 standard mim and a 2010 orange sunfire FSR mim.

I picked up a candy apple red 2006 standard mim for my oldest daughter.

We have not made any modifications or changes and have been happy with our guitars.

Just found this forum and just found this MIM Club! Cool!

I recently found a 1997 Deluxe Super Strat. She's a blonde. Honey Blonde, with a Maple Fretboard.

She had been in a hard case for 14 years, apparently just waiting for me!

The PUPS are: New Super Fat “Super” Strat Single-Coil Pickups. I've been trying to learn more about these, kind of a rare Fender Pickup. I love the way they sound, but this is my first Fender Strat. So I'm a PUP Rookie! Any info would be appreciated.

Here's a pic of my Blondie:

Here's the pickups. Still plastic under the screw from when it was new!

I just bought a Fender Hod Rod Deluxe III to join my Super Strat. Wow, what an amp!

I am also becoming a big fan of FullTone Pedals.

Glad to see there are so many other MIM folks that are as happy as I am.

If you like the way it plays and sounds, don't change a thing.

"better sound" is subjective. You may get "different" sound from it and you may even find a tone you like better, but better to my ears may sound like poo to your ears.

After 3 months, I'd most likely leave well enough alone and see if you still want to change things after a year or so. Just my not so humble opinion.

I was thinking about purchasing the HSS strat with the Floyd rose; is it worth the extra $200?

Technically yes, it would at least make it sound different. But it depends on which pickups you get. The Tex-Mex pickups that come with the Road Worn Strats are fine, I like them a lot. I also would not change the pickups unless you're after a very specific sound and know exactly which pickups you need to get for what you're after. I made the mistake of changing pickups in my Strat just because I wanted to when I was noobly. It cost me a small chunk of money and several years later I decided I actually liked the original pickups better and changed them back. I bought the wrong thing because I didn't know any better. Now I've played long enough that I can hear some of the characteristics of certain pickups, and I know what I'm after. Also keep in mind that your friend's idea of a good pickup may turn out to be the exact opposite of what yours is later on.

Also, there is no pickup in the world which can make you sound better than hours of practice will. Honestly, the majority of your tone is in your fingers. I was giving a kid a guitar lesson a few days ago and he started getting frustrated by the sound he was getting from his guitar. He turned his amp to the exact same EQ and volume as mine (we were going through the same kind of amp) and he still sounded like he did before. It's just that I've had more practice than him, and all the people out there who sound better than me have just practiced more. My guitar teacher can play a $300 classical guitar and make it sound like me playing a $5000 one. If your favorite guitar player played through a $100 amp and guitar beginner combo pack, he would still sound like your favorite guitar player.
