Graphite nut added, plan on replacing either the bridge or just the block, not sure yet.

I used to think the road worns were a joke, then i played one and it was unbelieveable how sweet it played and sounded, my 04 MIA is lying around getting no love. i just cant get away with its plasticy feel no more

I've just joined this MIM owners club :) I'm pretty rubbish with stuff like this so if I'm not posting in the right place or I'm doing anything wrong I'd be grateful of some help! cheers.

Anyway I have a 2007 MIM Standard Strat in Arctic White I use it as my main guitar when I record/gig and when I teach privately, Cant beat it for the price :)

Take Care

I want in :)

60's Road Worn Strat. This is one of the most amazing guitars I have played. My American Special has not made it out much since I got this. I plan on swapping out the pups to Klein S-5's OR cs69's. I also plan on picking up a 50's RW and leaving it stock.

I have considered putting a non worn pick guard in this, has anyone else done that? If so, I would love to see pics.

While I'm not yet a member of the MIM club, I'm likely to be joining it sometime in 2011.

A few months back I was attempting to intonate my sunburst strat when I found that, looking down on the neck in playing position, it was bowed upward ever so slightly (I actually had to remove it and sight down it from the heal to detect it!). Obviously, the truss rod couldn't adjust this out. So I went and picked up a mim standard strat. It's white, rosewood board, and came in the HSS configuration. I gutted it (I know some of you love those stock pups, but they're not my cup of tea!), and I dropped in CS 69's, black SSS pickguard, GraphTech Black Tusq nut and saddles, StrapLocks, a brass trem block, 5 springs with the claw screwed all the way into the body (I know they probably don't do much in combination with the following mod, but it just doesn't look right to me without them, so it's an old habit because I play 12's or 13's on my guitars), blocked the trem, rewired with vintage pushback wire, CTS pots, Oak Grigsby 5-way switch, Orange Drop tone capacitor, treble bleed on the volume pot, and I added an EMG Afterburner (sounds AWESOME pushing the preamp tubes in my 410 Blues Deville!), which meant I needed a battery and a stereo jack, so I added a Switchcraft stereo jack, and routed out a spot behind the trem cavity in the back and dropped in a batt box from Stew-Mac, and routed a spot under the pickguard in the front for the Afterburner. I'm at work at the moment, but I'll try and make time to get on here and add some pics when I get home!

There is just one more mod I'm looking to add though.....

Anyone know how to wire a dummy coil? I've got the old middle pup from this guitar, which should be reverse wound/reverse polarity (which I understand is necessary-please correct me if I'm wrong). I know I need to remove the magnets, and I can obviously handle soldering and such, I just don't know where in the circuit to add it. Also, I'm not sure if the output difference between the two sets (assuming there is one) would be a factor. Anyone know much about installing a dummy coil? For reference, the Powerhouse Strat diagram doesn't help me, as it's wired different than a standard due to the boost it has in it.

Thanks in advance, and keep on rockin' and moddin' those mim strats!!!!

Well, I got what I think is one of the first of them from '91, my first Strat.
The body and neck are superb but, to be honest, the hardware and pickups were definitely budget stuff. A couple of years ago it finally finished it's evolution, it has;
Locking Spertzel tuners
LSR nut (a bit redundant, but doesn't wear)
High mass trem block
Full Clapton electrics (correct body routing, blocked trem etc)
I have a couple of US Standards and they are nowhere near in terms of feel and sound.
A proper Strat and the perfect foundation for whatever personal pickups or hardware you want.

I have a Road Worn 60's Strat'. My first of hopefully many Fender guitars.
Gonna upgrade it with 56' or 69' custom shop pickups.

Sorry if this doesn't belong but it's related to my MIM strat and i didn't want to waste a thread.

I'm going to order a set of locking tuners, i've found these and need your opinions.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LEFTY-Fender-Stra ... _783wt_905

I need the tuners that require no screws (ping tuners) and from what i can see these have none. Am i also right in assuming these will just pop in without any modifications to my headstock? Are these a good price also?

Also, what is the difference between the ones i want (above) and these ones:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-LEFTY-Schalle ... _767wt_905

Is it just the screws?

Thanks alot :)
(i'm left handed so coming across a set of these is like finding the holy grail lol)
