YAY for MIM's. I (like many other players) have been lucky enough to find a MIM that I prefer over any MIA's I've played. It is an 08 Arctic White Maple neck Standard Strat with a mint pickguard and aged colored plastic parts. (Kinda retro lookin'). I play it through a tube Marshall and it sounds PERFECT to me. this guitar is capable mimicking Gilmour, Clapton, and Mayer sounds. I couldn't be happier with this guitar, and I'm glad I was able to stoop off of my "American only" preferences. :D

I'm the proud owner of a 2009 (Updated) Fender MIM Standard Stratocaster:

- Arctic White
- Maple Neck w/21 frets
- Chrome Hardware
- White Fender MOD Shop Samarium Cobalt Noiseless pickups
- Black Fender 3-ply pickguard w/parchment white pot covers etc
- Completely rewired electronics using Fender pots (250s)
- 5 Tremlo Springs w/ cover removed
- Schaller Straplocks

This guitar is modern looking (like Billy Corgan's but better since it looks like the original Strats) and SWEET!

I tried-out American Standard Strats side by side with the MIM Standards and bought the best of the batch at my local Guitar Center. My Strat sounded as good or better than the MIAs. The fretwork on the neck is beautiful...smooth and perfect. I wonder if the neck was intended for a custom shop guitar? It was very good out of the box, but I had it set-up professionally about a week later.

The stock picks sounded incredible tonewise...but after a year and a half I got tired of the HUM and had SCNs professionally installed along w/ all the electronics. Let me tell you that this guitar now plays and sounds incredible. I used to primarily use settings 2 & 4 to cancel that HUM. Now, I use all 5 settings and get totally different and awesome tones with the SCNs. This guitar can play everything! I strongly recommend the SCNs. Get them before their gone. Yeah, the SCNs look like they're being discontinued. Fender no longer sells them on their site and online stores are running out.

I spent $450 on the Strat and $225 on the above mods...but got the SCNs new for $120 and list they were $225 or so.

I wouldn't sell this guitar for less than $1,500. I figure that's about how much it'd cost to get another Strat in its league. Actually, I don't think I'd ever sell it. Its awesome! You can't go wrong with a MIM Standard Strat and mods make it even better. I would like to get another one in the future...they're addictive!

First post. I finally saved enough for a Mexican strat (price kept going up on me). Three color sunburst (2010) with maple fret board. Played and inspected for an hour at GC and could not find a single thing to complain about. Ususally I'm thinking CTS pots, New switch, jack, nut and some Alnico pups, tuners ect. After I got it home and played it through my tubes I thought Wow, no upgrades needed anytime soon. No scratches, no dings, no sharp fret ends, perfect set up (it was hanging on the wall out on the floor). I dug out my books and checked the setup and it was dead nuts!
Told the old lady I'm good for the rest of the year. The American ones felt and sounded a little better but not $1,000.00 better. I'm happy.

I've noticed some posts have photos. How do I include a photo in my post?

you need to go to a site like photo bucket which can be viewed by anyone, upload your photos, then copy and paste to the forum the IMG code.
