2006 MIM Arctic White Strat with maple fretboard.

I changed the pu's and put in Texas Specials.

Changed the pickgaurd to mint green.

Added the vintage knobs, backplate, pu covers etc.

Blocked the tremelo to turn it into a hardtail.

Would not trade it for the world.

I seond the Vox AD30Vt amp. I have it and it sounds great with both my Epi LP and my MIM Strat. It has tubes in the preamp stage so it is a type of tube amp.

Seeking membership.....

Guitar: 2004 MIM Standard Strat bought new - SSS - Black w/ white pickguard - Rosewood fingerboard
Mods: Replaced the trem block with the larger '06+ variety ($12); I also use five springs to stay in tune better (I am a heavy trem user)
Upcoming light mods: White pearloid pickguard, black knobs, black p/u covers
Pickups: I have been for a while considering new pickups. However, the stock p/u's sound really good, so I am never in a rush. Am I the only one to be enamored with their stock p/u's?? It seems everybody changes them.
Complaints: Not really a complaint ... but I do miss not having a 22nd fret. That is the only negative I can say about this guitar, and that is pretty minor.
Overall: Even with the old trem block, it got monster sustain. This guitar is a beast, unbelievably good especially considering the price point. During the test drive, this guitar played at least as good as it MIA brethren.
In conclusion: My "number one" is a '76 Gibson SG that plays sweeeeter than any other SG I have ever played (that is a lot). The '04 MIM Strat is the FIRST guitar that I have owned that has me leaving the SG alone for many weeks at a time. The MIM is that good.

Yes thats a nice amp it actualy has a 12AX7C valve dual triod device meaning two valves in one. It also uses a dummy speaker circut to read the impedance and feed it back to the output transformer just like a all tube amp does making the valve stage change with the speaker load helping create valve tone. Plus the AC30 setting sounds pretty close to my Vox AC30.

Mine (technically my fiancees, but she doesn't play it) is a 2007 MIM Midnight Wine Standard with a maple fretboard. It's been modded with Seymour Duncan pickups, a Vintage in the neck, Twang Banger in the middle and Custom in the bridge, the pickup covers, knobs, switch tip and trem tip have been switched to black plastic. Here's an older pic with my Surf Green Highway One and my old Sunburst HSS Highway One. I sold it a few months ago, but I wish I still had it, I loved the pickups, I actually preferred them to the Custom 69's in the green one, I just liked the color better. I may get a used set on eBay. I've got an '08 MIM Classic 50's in Surf green w/maple, and an '08 MIM Standard in 2 tone burst w/maple.

I love them both, they sound and play completely different from each other, both great.

2007 MIM Standard Strat, midnight wine, maple/maple neck
The fit and finish were/are excellent. Playability awesome after changing to heavier strings and doing a setup.
Left it stock for a few months...
Now, GFS Premium Alnico Staggers (inexpensive but very good copies), Callaham bridge block (not so inexpensive, but also very good). It knocks me out every time I pick it up. I couldn't be happier with it. THAT vintage Strat sound that's been in my head all these years is mine now.
Not to knock the MIA Standards because they are truly excellent, but the basic MIM Standard is a very good vehicle (IMHO) to make your own pre CBS Strat copy with a few choice parts without paying a fortune for a real vintage Strat.
