2000 60's classic player with the RW fret board and the vintage style locking tuners. Just picked up used. It is all original and perfect, like new condition. It is a beautiful Strat for very little money. Hope to have many years of enjoyment from it.
This is one of those guitars that someone bought and put in a closet and forgot about. Still has the protective plastic on the trem cover with the original set up sticker on it.

2003 Brown Sunburst with following mods:

-Jimmie Vaughan neck w/ Kluson tuners
-Hot Noiseless pickups
-High-mass bridge from Highway 1 Strat
-Mint green pearloid pickguard
-Aged white knobs and switch tip

2003 Blue Agave with following mods:

-Warmoth birdseye maple '59 roundback neck w/6105 frets, American Standard tuners, and no string tree
-Vintage Noiseless pickup set w/Eric Johnson wiring
-Parchment pearloid pickguard
-Cream knobs and switch tip

Both have Schaller strap locks and blocked trem's w/all 5 springs installed.

I prefer the MIM Standard Strat to the American Standard, mainly because I'm rarely happy with a stock guitar off the rack. So, I'd rather spend 500 dollars than 1500 dollars if I know I'm going to drop an extra 600 or 700 dollars anyway for quiet pickups, a fat neck, and a few cosmetic touches. It just doesn't make sense to me to spend the extra thousand bucks on a guitar that will require just as many mods to get it to where I want it. The MIM Strat is IMHO the best place to start on a customized working man's rig if you're on a budget. That way you get a good guitar that you can continue to play as you upgrade it, so you don't have to wait on custom shop build times. For a reference, I also have American as well as custom-built Strats, and my modded Mexi's hold their own in every respect.

Hi. Name's Ron. 56 and recently retired. :D This is my first post here and I like what I see. 'Seems being a novice isn't a sin here.

Bought a MIM Stratocaster Deluxe Series a couple weeks back. Early Christmas present from the missus. Black body, maple neck and fret board. Can't tell you much else about the guitar other than it is a 2005 according to the serial number. Dealer said it was new but could not provide the manual, if there is one. Anyway, it still had all the stickers on it and the plastic (PITA to remove) film. Also snagged a Behringer V-Tone GMX210 amp (used) and am loving playing with the effects. After all... just strumming chords could get boring so having the amp to play with helps keep it interesting.

I am a beginner in the true sense of the word. Bought a lesson beginner's book with DVD and am having a lot of fun. Still can't nail that damn "F"...

I had some doubts about the guitar being Mexican made, but the posts here have removed all doubts that I made a wise choice.

OK... enough of my blather. Carry on.

Ron 8) (my biker friends call me VT... I ride too)

Congrats. Enjoy yourself, that's what it's all about.
Oh, yeah, and that open "F" can be a biotch. Keep at it, it WILL get easier.

VT BlackStrat congrats on retiring and on the new guitar and amp. This is a great forum, welcome.

Yeah the F is a tough chord for sure. Luckily except for practicing it I haven't
used it in any music...yet :-)

Say I'm practicing an hour a day... about how long can I expect that 9 volt battery in the back of the guitar to last?

To VT BlackStrat:

I can't make any promises, but I have a Strat with EMG's in it, and the battery life is excellent. Make sure to unplug the cable when you're not playing it, and from my experience, you'll get several months out of a battery. In my case, I've had the guitar for almost three years, and I know I'm not past the fifth battery. This particular guitar is my "go-to" guitar, so it gets played just about every day. Hope I could help.

Ok here's my MIM Strat I painted myself. It's a 2006 body with a 2000 neck, and the electronics are from a 2005 American Standard.

I'm proud to have two MIM Strats in my "stable"
1. 95 Squier/MIM, white with rosewood neck,
upgrades:
Fender locking tuners, Earvanna Compensated Nut, GFS Tremelo with Steel Block, Callaham shielded back plate and base plate on Bridge p/u,
Highway one 3 ply pickguard.
2. Tom Delonge/Robert Cray MIM, Daphne Blue Hardtail W/ rosewood neck (picked up the Tom Delonge Strat at a pawn shop for 125.00, added Robert Cray pickguard, pickups, pots and wiring from e-biscuit, 225.00, 350 invested!
I enjoy doing mods on guitars, and thanks to this forum, I've done some things I would have never tried on my own, shout out to nikininja for some good advice! I must admit, I have a hard time deciding which of these beauties to play, they're both so cool!
