My only American Strat is the first one I ever bought... a late 1965 bought in 1967. It's all original parts except for the pickup switch selector tip and the strings, of course. :D My old friend stays in its case most of the time now and one Strat is never enough. The MIM Deluxe and Classic Series took up the slack.

Hey MIM players!

Here's my 2007 Deluxe Players in 3-tone sunburst w/ Maple frets and gold HW. It's got a new tortoise-shell backplate to match the pickguard, and it just got a professional setup and custom bone nut last week.

It plays every bit as well as any MIA I've played, and sounds BEAUTIFUL plugged in and unplugged. I love the Noiseless pickups and add'l pickup combinations.

Here's a link to more pics as I just posted a separate post with more pics the other day. :)

Steve,
It is no harder on the hands. Actually I only did it to be able to play barre chords more easily and it does accomplish this nicely. I have a "tirck" index finger on my left hand. It does not require near as hard a touch as a regualr fretboard. I have heard that scalloping allows for faster playing -by those that can move ther fingers fast enough.

Plus, I wanted to experiment, much like the fretless one I did...just to see what it was like.

To see some of my guitars

A nice collection of guitars! Thanks for posting them! 8)

2003 Black/Maple fretboard with white pickguard (Blackie)
GFS Vintage wound pups
Changed to a push-pull pot in the mid/bridge tone postition to toggle the bridge pup on and off
Shielded under the pick-guard with copper foil tape

I think if you get the right MIM, they play and sound as good as any MIA.
I must have picked up and played 5 or 6 of the same exact guitar the day I bought it ($250 new at GC in '03!) and went with the one that felt best to me. I have been happy with it since. The GFS pups have a really nice sound and were only like $40 or so.

went into a Uk guitar shop accompanied by a friend who makes guitars. I was intending to buy a cheap squier bass to play with in the studio but had to pass the wall of strats on the way. Tried a few and then more and this one stood out by amile above all others there. USA ones as well, so I just couldn't leave without it. My first Strat since my anniversary one got stolen in '83'

anyone know what model it is? I forgot to ask. It didn't seem to matter at the time.

THANKS alot. I was a little leery of the whole 12db powerhouse active pickups, etc. but now that i've played both of my strats, it really is the best i've played. It's just like butter! very happy with it!

This is my first post on this VERY cool forum. My Black MIM Std, pictured above, is the best guitar i have ever owned. I bought it last month after having sold my beloved '57 Japanese reissue in 1990 and regretting it ever since. An MIA was way out of my reach at £750 so this MIM, £300 is what i chose. I went in the shop specifically wanting an MIM 50's series, having loved my '57 RI so much, but they didn't have any in stock so i picked up this Black '08 Std. I didn't put it down and so after half an hour of playing unplugged, i just walked up to the counter and paid for it, put it in the gigbag they gave me and took it home. I didn't play any other guitar because the very second this fell into my hands, it was 'Right'. My first experience of ANY elctric guitar was a Strat and my first musical experience was my Dad's obsession with Pink Floyd, which i have thankfully adopted myself throughout my own life. When i got the chance to buy another electric guitar, after 18 years without one, it HAD to be a Fender Strat and it HAD to be black. When i picked up this one, it HAD to be THAT ONE, it just spoke to me. I was expecting to be a little rusty after so long with only a cheap acoustic to play, but everything came back to me instantly and within a few minutes i was enjoying the solo from 'Comfortably Numb' and smiling like i was 18 again.

The guitar needed setting up, frets polished clean etc but it is now amazing to look at and play. I polish it with Meguiars and i am very careful about knocks and scratches, a Fender Deluxe hardcase in black Tolex/Blue plush is coming in the new year.

The modifications list for 2009 is:

Black Single Ply Scratchplate (In tribute to David Gilmour)

Set of 'Noiseless' Pickups

Eric Clapton 'Mid Boost' Circuit + TBX Tone Control

7 Way Pickup Switching

Body Stripped of the Polyester Black finish and re sprayed in 'Thin Coat' Black.

MIA String Tree

Vintage Locking Tuners

But until all that happens, i LOVE my guitar and when that list is complete, it will be my 'Perfect' Strat.

Thanks Fender, I'm alive again.

Here is my newest addition to my 06 MIM Strat. A Diamond Plate Pickguard with the Single Bucker cutout. I have upgraded the string trees, volume knob, 500k volume pot and Pickup to the single Hum Lace Pickup. The onlything left to upgrade on this beauty is Fender Locking Tuners and maybe a LSR rolling nut. It should be a Beast after that. Cant wait to see the stage lights reflect off this monster. It has become my favorite guitar in my lineup and play it 75% of the time. Next is my White Strat, which is already bad to the bone, but could use some more upgrades, then on to my blue one. but for now, check out this one.....
