I'm done here... Just had to adjust the action and everithing seems to work ok. The Schaller tuning machines are great, by the way...

I'm coming form my friend's house, the one who said I should not use a set of 0.010-0.46 gauge on my MIM Strat. He says you all are crazy (LOL), and that any guitar should use 0.010 strings with standard tuning. He says I'll probably break the neck of my guitar, or at least cause serious damage to it. Now I don't know what to do, he he he... He knows a lot of stuff about guitar set up and electronics. Should I use the 0.010 anyway?

hes the one whos crazy! ive used 10-46 gauge strings on my MIM strat for the 9 years ive had it and NEVER had a problem!!! you wanna use them feel free too!!!

Just got a 96 or 97 Jimmy Vaughan in black. Previous owner replaced the stock pickguard with a coffee pearloid one, and the bridge pickup with a gold lace sensor. Love the new pickguard, but I think the original pickup is going back in and the lace sensor will wait for another guitar...

Guitar-Pro is great, they offer a trial version and you can download the tabes off of ultimate-guitar.com

There is a freeware program called TuxGuitar which may be of interest. It is a multi-track guitar tab editor and player which can open GuitarPro, PowerTab and TablEdit files.

I own a 1996 50th Anniversary Tex-Mex Strat. The neck is actually dated 1995, Rosewood fretboard, Vintage white with Tex-Mex pickups. All original but I did have the bridge pickup wired to the tone pot. (Just like Jimmi Vaughan's signature Strat.) I absolutely love it!

Well, this is my MIM Standard Strat... It is a '98. Originally was SSS. I replaced the pickguard and the pickups. It has a Dimarzio The Tone Zone on the bridge positian and a Pro Track on the Neck. The one in the middle is an American Series Strat Pickup... A nice clean sound... I also replaced the tunning machines to a Fender Schaller Locking ones.

I have the Blizzard Pearl 60th anniversary Strat. I've changed the pick-ups to the Fender Jeff Beck Hot. Left the back plate and pick guard white but have changed the tremelo knob, switch knob, volume and tone knobs to the aged look. I got 2 volume knobs and one tone knob in my set, I like it. The aged knobs are a nice match to the pick-ups. I have also changed the stock tuners to the Kluson Deluxe. Not only a better look but the tuners are far superior.

Hi all,

This is a cool subject!

I have a MIM '50s 2-Tone Strat.

Mods include:

DiMarzio Area '58s' in Neck and Mid positions; DiMarzio HS-2 in Bdg wired for single-coil mode.

EJ strat type of wiring, meaning last tone knob wired to bridge pick up rather than middle.

300k V,T,T pots

Dunlop 6000 frets (biggest one I could find).

Fender American Vintage Saddles and one brass saddle for the hi-E

Future Mods:

Getting a Steel trem block.

Torres/Fralin Very Vintage Pick-ups for neck and mid positions.

Take care all.

Farily new to posting in this forum, but..
Have a 2002 MIM Black Strat. Modifed the neck by getting it scalloped which gives my "locking" index finger some advantage on barre chords. Black Pickguard, Knobs, PU Covers will go on at next string change, Switch Tip and Tremelo Tip.

Just decided to get a second MIM Strat Midnight Wine and have the neck turned fretless...got a lot of pro and con suggestions about that one!
