So I finally found the MIM Club I read about on another thread. Sign me up:

1992 MIM Strat in Chrome Red,

2000 MIM Cyclone in black with rose tortoiseshell pickguard,

2002 MIM Deluxe Powerhouse Strat in Inca Silver, pearloid pickguard, noiseless p/u's, 12dB boost -- May be the most underrated ax in the Fender lineup.

Tom, would love to see pics, it sounds gorgeous! White with red pearl pickguard.. kinda inside out to the usual coloured Strat / white guard combo! 8)

My (my fiancees) Upgraded (updated from my last post) MIM Standard. Same neck/middle pickups (Seymour Duncan Vintage/ Twang Banger) now with a Fender Hot Noiseless pickup in the bridge and a black pearl pickguard. I liked it with the SD Custom in the bridge, but now it's quiet. I sacrificed a little output for less noise, even trade if you ask me. I always liked the guitar a lot and if I didn't have the Highway One, it'd definitely get more playing time. Here's a pic: Image

That looks great. If it plays and sounds as good as it looks, you should be very happy!

GLAD TO BE PART OF THE CLUB! FINALLY OTHER MIM OWNERS I CAN RELATE TO. I'M THE PROUD OWNER OF MIM FENDER FAT STRAT (SUNBURST). IT HAS A MAPLE NECK, ROSEWOOD FRETBOARD AND ALDER BODY. WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT THE GUITAR I DID SO DUE TO LACK OF MONEY. BUT, I'M STILL PLAYING MY MIM AND DON'T INTEND TO BUY A MIA. I'M HAPPY WITH MINE. I ACTUALLY THINK MINE EVEN SOUNDS AND PLAYS BETTER THEN SOME MIA GUITARS.

I HAVE MADE SOME CHANGES. CHANGES I WOULD HAVE ALSO MADE TO A MIA IF I WOULD'VE BOUGHT ONE. I REPLACED THE STOCK TUNERS WITH FENDER/SCHALLER LOCKING TUNERS. I HAD THE FRETBOARD REFRETTED WITH JUMBO FRETS. I PUT HIGHER GUAGE CUSTOM STRINGS. I REPLACED THE STOCK PUP'S WITH SEYMOUR DUNCANS, THE STOCK BRIDGE WITH A CALLAHAM VINTAGE STYLE TREMOLO ASSEMBLY, THE STOCK PICKGUARD WITH A 4PLY TOURTOISE PICKGUARD AND THE TONE/VOLUME KNOBS+ BACK PLATE WITH DIFFERENT COLOR, FOR LOOKS. IT PLAYS AND SOUNDS AWSOME!!!

I have MIM Chris Rea Signature
-Made in 1999, for European market only.
-21 frets, vintage style.
-Rosewood with 7.25 radius.
-Poplar body.
-Classic strat controls, with 5 positions.
-Color is "faded" Fiesta red called Salmon pink.
-Aged plastic parts.
-Vintage tuner (kluson.) and vintage bridge .

Fender made these guitars about 500 in 1999. These guitars were sold only for European markets. Guitar is a copy of Chris Reas Stratocaster, called "Pinky". Each guitar came with video, slide, gigbag and few stickers.

Mods:
- Refretted with Dunlop 6100
- Seymour Duncan Texas Hot Antiquity pickups

first post here....i just bought a '08' (i think) Std HSS, brown sunburst and a Frontman 212r amp. i am just a beginner on guitar and started on an acoustic about a month ago. got the fever for an electric and started my search. long story short...i ended up with the above. for the money i spent,
i could not be happier.

my only complaint (and is probably easily fixed) is that the 'G' string has this buzz when played. these are the original strings. i figure this may
fix itself if new strings are put on, whenever i decide to do that. even tho i have a new set just waiting. at this point all i want to do is play it (let me re-phrase that) learn to play it. anyway just wanted to be added to the list of the many proud strat owners here.

Had a problem with buzz on the G saddle as well; I put on heavier gauge strings and had the guitar set-up; no buzz since I got it back.

thanks for the tip...i'll remember this. but by going to heavier gauge, will this affect the bridge or the headstock piece? what i mean is, will the bigger strings affect the slots where the string actually sits or maybe pinch/bind the string?

sorry if this sounds stupid, but i really am quite new to this guitar stuff, but it sure is fun. thanks again.

Depends how much heavier. I would just bring the guitar to a tech to have it set-up for the new gauge; numerous adjustments will have to be made. (I'm not much of a hands-on guy)
