I have seen conflicting specs regarding the fretboard radius of the 1994 Strat 57' Reissue. I have seen it reported to be 7.25 and 9.5 by various dealers and individuals selling them. Does anybody know for sure what the fretboard radius is of this 1994 reissue actually is? Thanks.

It's a 7.25" radius, with vintage-spec fret wire.

I have the 1994 Fender catalog and there is no ' 57 Strat Reissue. The only one named '57 is a U.S. Vintage 57 Stratocaster part number 010-098 with 7.25 radius.

Some other Strats are '60 Reissue, '50 Reissue.

What is the difference between a Vintage and a Reissue ?
Pickups are not the same
Pickups sw are not same
Body wood not same

US Vintage look a better guitar to me.

Someone correct me when I get something wrong here, the names are a bit of a jungle...
U.S. Vintage and American Vintage (=Fender's own model names) are the ones generally (forums, stores etc.) called AVRIs, or (real) Reissues.
But: Japanese Strats with vintage specs borrowed from a certain year/decade are also generally called Reissues.
And then there are a lot of other Strats (MIM Classic Series etc.) that ever more frequently get the same nickname. Probably someone soon enough calls the Squier Classic Vibes Reissues, too.
All in all, one usually has to check the context so the model becomes clear.

And to the topic: I agree with above, no AVRI 57s with 9.5" radius from 1994. Quick edit: Or from any other year.
(No MIJ ST-57s either, AFAIK. There is the American Vintage Hot Rod '57 with 9.5" radius - but they didn't make those in 1994.)

Thanks so much for all of your informative replies. The neck stamp is Feb 16, 1994. The maple has aged nicely and is ding free. I just bought it and am relieved that it's 7.25. That's exactly what I wanted. Yes confusing, I too thought it was called an AVRI, so it has both words, vintage and reissue in it.
Hey while you guys are here, do you know what the radius is on a 1979 25th Anniversary Strat? That is also hard info to find.

That's a pretty clear description of how the Fender's actual model names and "shorthand" names are used. I'll admit that a lot of times I'll just call the original USA series "American Vintage" or "AVRI" because I get tired of trying to explain that "these were originally called "U.S. Vintage" when CBS/Fender brought them out in 1982, and FMIC kept the same name after they bought the company and then changed the name to "American Vintage" when they updated them in 1998".

Thank you for confirming my findings, JC.

Maybe we all should start calling these USRI, AVRI, JRI, MIMRI etc. 8)

The 25th Anniversary Strat's neck was radiused to 7.25", with vintage-spec fretwire. I owned one for some six years though I seldom played it due to the ungodly weight of its northern ash body -- over fifteen pounds.

I know right? I love the way my 25th Anniversary ( sn 6029 ) plays and sounds but it's 11 lbs and I'm 62 yrs old! That's one reason I got the 1994 Vintage '57, it's over 3 lbs lighter. My back says it makes a difference.

You're preaching to the choir!

Mine looked great, played great, and sounded great, but once I started playing professionally again after retiring from the military I quickly realized that the abnormal heft of the instrument would exact a toll that I wasn't prepared to pay.

My proper name is Matthew. Nobody calls me that, except my mother and my aunts; everybody calls me Matt. My (Mexican) wife sometimes calls me Mateo. At work they call me Biomed Matt, to differentiate me from EVS Matt and IT Matt, who work in close proximity to me.

I answer to all of them, even though only one of those names is correct (according to my birth certificate).

So, yes, you are right...it is properly called a US Vintage Series guitar.

I have a 1992 US Vintage '62 Stratocaster...however, it's easier (and usually accepted amongst Guitar Nerds) to call those instruments a '62-reissue (or a '57-reissue, or a '52-reissue Telecaster) just for the sake of brevity.

It's also properly called a "Stratocaster" or a "Telecaster," but no one argues when you call it a Strat or a Tele.

If I were to to sell the instrument, I would list it with the proper manufacturer's catalog name, but in casual conversation, nobody should be faulted for using the other name.
