My sweet wife of nearly 20 years bought me this guitar for my birthday and its getting close to 12 years
I have played this guitar every day with maybe the exception of two days due to illness.

Limited run Ash two tone, 54 C/S pickups, maple neck etc........
Still wonder why they used the modern bridge ??? I guess it was just an AMSE with a few extras so.........

Still the same after all these years, needs a fret replacement job and there a few tiny dings but if it could talk of all the tunes and places and people ! 8)

Lucky man x 2 Blues! Sure is a sweet looking sunburst! My old '57 Vintage Reissue is heading towards a refret too, but after 34 years, those frets have held up well.

Outrageously sexy guitar. Pretty much perfect in every respect. I prefer the two post trem.

As a result of this thread I went looking on eBay and had to sit on my hands to stop me buying one. I have always regretted not getting a 25th Anniversary when new, perhaps having a 50th will stop the itch. It might make it worse though.

I have yet to play any other Strat that comes close to the sound I want to hear
The fit and finish are perfect !
Classic vintage Stratocaster tones and style and the two post bridge really isn't a big deal, I just couldn't afford the master built issue of this guitar that year  or I would have gone that route.
The guitar so reminds me of the first Buddy holly and the Chirping Crickets album cover :D

The pickup choice they made on this guitar was perfect too.

I owned one of these guitars and really struggled with parting with it for my '75 Strat.

The 50th anniversary's were great, with really great pickups, I have the 50th 54' mb and feel it's about as perfect as a strat can be(same pickups as yours I believe).

That was my understanding also, The AMSE edition got the CS 54 pickups That were in the Master built edition.
I later bought the deluxe version with the gold hardware and the embossed pickguard, I couldn't connect with that one and ended up selling it.

I wish I had gotten a second 50th AMSE and tucked it away so my kids wouldn't have to fight over this one some day

Also sorry Fender put the 50th neck plates on every Strat that year, The body, pickguard, pickups and the case are what sets these apart from the rest of the 2004 Strats.

Fender is famous for confusing people with things like the neck plate. I see this most of the time in the resale market. A lot of people thinking they an Anniversary model, vut don't. Some thing happened with the Fender 50th anniversary sticker and 60th anniversary mental coin.

The gold lined case was a perfect match.

Just had to add this little bit to this thread

I have owned literally dozens of Stratocasters and had hundreds in my possession for a while either setting up for friends, swapping or fixing electronics etc.....
From Squiers to Custom Shop guitars and there has never been another that I would have traded this simple AMSE for !!!
Playability, Tone, Good looks, It's got it all
I am one of the lucky ones, Found my #1 and have been able to keep her, Wife and Guitar !

Just a bit of useless info I think the pickups on the Anni std are a variant of the cs54 pickups in that they have plastic coated rather than cloth wire.
You can certainly hear it.... only kidding.
I am not sure if the wire is the only difference. :D

To the best of my knowledge, they are the same pickups.
